Is Canzanello playing with Mayo, or did he go to juniors?

That will have a huge impact on Mayo's success, since he plays damn-near the whole game, and he's very good.

mayo

Post by BigBubba004 »

last i heard he's playing for mayo, which should put them in the top 3 or 4 in both the big-9 and section 1aa. if
century's new goalie is for real, they'd probably have to still be the favorites in both. if he's not, then a team like farmington or mayo could take this section.

Century Goalie

Jake Tripp tore his ACL so Chad Murphy will have to fill some pretty big shoes.

Sioux Fan,
Are you saying there is a possibility that Grosso and Whitney may not be on the bench?

That would be interesting, of course games would get over at the normal time since games wouldn't be helb up waiting for the Mayo coaches to grace us with their presence on the bench at the start of periods.

Whitney took the AD job at Mayo and therefore can not coach. Grosso is still the head coach, I don't know who the assistant is or will be.

I was told that Lorne was retiring and that Hookum was going to be the coach.. It would be great if Lorne could come back and coach these boys. That is why I asked.

I know the Alexander boys are pretty good and Kevin Donohue is really playing well for us in the nets and Tony Sackett is scoring some big goals for us.

Also Nick Canzanello is a very talented player. There is enough there to win a lot of Big Nine games.

Who are the other Dmen besides Canzanello?
Hockey Nut in So. Tyler Rank played decent D as a sophomore, a little slow last year, but it's a big jump from bantams to VFW and you can't coach size and he's got plenty of that. Tony Brown is above average, Kyle Swenson is good too, Ferschweiler, well, I hope he's straightend himself out and is eligible he's got a whole lifetime to do what he wants to do. If Canzanello can stay out of the box Mayo should have the best defensive core and goalie of the three public teams in Rochester.

disagree goldy..... The only way you could say that is if canzanello stays on the ice the entire game, ranks big, but no hands or speed... ferschwiler is good as well, but those 2 cant be on the ice the entire game im sorry.

Rochester Hockey

I have no idea why someone said Jake Tripp tore his ACL, it was a MCL sprain and didnt even take him 2 weeks to recover. He will be good to go for the season. First line will be Garret Grimsted, Joe Kenopke, and Colin Briscoe. Also Mayo's defense doesnt even compare to Centurys Bryce Stevense, Bryce Wilcox, and Bryan Frishmann so sorry Mayo fans you have no chance this year!

I find it hard to believe that a team that lost 7 of 9 forwards on the first 3 lines and the best goalie anywhere south of the twin cities is just gonna walk all over everybody and that Mayo has no chance. Im sure century will be good, they always are but I think Mayo will have a solid team this year too! Donahue is a great goalie and canzanello is the best play in section 1aa and the big 9.

Post by sterfry9 »

canzanello is a GREAT player plays both ways very well but tends to spend TOO much time in the penalty box....the kid can shoot the puck...jake petricka and matt lipinski will be in the top 5 in the big nine scoring if not lead the big nine if there playing together GOOD LUCK stopping them TRIPP u got some HUGE skates to fill

Rank is a nice athlete, he can be successful in baseball if he chooses to play hockey this year. I remember a Rochester athlete that was a three sport star (football, hockey, and baseball) named Doug Zmolek. He did not quit his other sports to concentrate on another. In fact, playing those other sports made him a better, more well rounded athlete. And, as we all know he went on to be drafted in the first round, play for the Gophs and then a respectable pro career. I wish I could be so lucky. Playing three sports also helps with the burnout factor as well.

Well he's doing what Aaron Senne did. Senne said he would play hockey but he wants to concentrate on baseball (since he'll probably be going pro) It's always nice to have an off-season though

Didn't Rank seperate his shoulder a last summer playing on one of those Europe tour teams? Given his "golden" pitching arm risking injury would certainly make some kids think twice. I however agree that multi-sport participation is for the best
