Whatever
Edina's schedule speaks for itself. Their schedule strength will rate out as one of (if not the) toughest in the state. Wake me when a team eschews the Gold division and doesn't play quality opponents the rest of the year. Hard to believe anyone is playing a tougher slate than the Hornets. Hate 'em ...

my guess
Hockey DB shows he was playing in the Western by age 17 or 18. As a result he couldn't play NCAA hockey. I keep thinking the name sounds familiar so I wonder if a dad or uncle would have played back when the Brotens were on Roseau. Another Byfuglien is playing in Pensacola with two more people born ...

True, but...
I hope they prove me wrong and show me that they are a great team, but as of now I definitely do not see them winning a state title this year. In fact, they might have a tough time getting out of their section. One could argue that a section with Edina, AHA, B'ville, Jefferson, and Chaska is almost...

Where they're supposed to be?
If they were in the Gold division of the Schwan's Cup, where they should be, then they might get that opportunity. Does anyone in the state play a schedule as difficult as Edina? Who don't they play? Moorhead, Roseau, and Hill is about it. DE Cloquet GR EP B'ville and on and on and on AHA in sectio...

No celebration rule at Minnesota Made
Okay, we've all heard how the kids in the Made programs like Machine aren't supposed to show their excitement. It seems funny because nobody got more out of his celebrations than The Great One. Did anyone see Ovechkin today? It was pretty cool. He scored in the slot, was pumping his fist by the time...

My best guess
I didnt get to watch the game, what was the final score, and the line combinations for Edina? I think the lines are: Leer, Lee, Casey Gaarder Everson, Budish, Connor Gaarder Taft, MacDonald, Eppel Gleason is supposedly pairing with Max Everson. I think Jarrett and Baker is another pairing. The othe...

Gotcha, I was thinking that but saw Ness's name. Is he classified as a junior? I know he would like to attend the University next year.suntzu wrote: Mr. Hockey is only awarded to seniors. Thus, juniors such as Budish and Everson are not eligible.

yikes
Wayzata certainly has a rough early schedule. Edina, Hill, Duluth East. Common opponents sometimes don't mean much, but we might be an early gauge on how DE compares to the best Metro teams. Edina 5-1 over Wayzata Hill 5-0 over Wayzata Everyone else is beating them so why can't we... I'll go with DE.

Mr Hockey
I suspect that Edina is #1 in most rankings at the end of the season. If not, #2 or #3 with Roseau or Hill-Murray. It looks like some of their players will put up sick point totals and be candidates. At this point probably juniors Anders Lee (five goals in first two games) and Marshall Everson (five...

Talent in Minnesota
All I was trying to say was that the MSHL is not as good as most people make it out to be MSHL is fine. Do you supposed someone could say it "isn't as good" as something else because the talent is so spread out? My gosh, there are over 100 teams. In Detroit the best would have collected o...

2007 Draft
I think the Minnesota State High School Leauge is terrible. If the best we had to offer (no offence to Patrick White) last year was ranked 26th in North America, I think we need to re-evaluate things. High School Hockey in the State of Minnesota could be so much better. Last year's draft actually s...

Bump so people can see the poll results. As of now, 4 will watch on TV or go to the Edina game and 4 will watch on the internet or go to the Hill game. A couple industrious soldiers are going multi-media tonight. Some "others" - either not watching HS hockey tonight or caught up with anoth...

Question for Lee re: scheduling strength
In another thread you wrote: Thoughts? No. Statistics? Sure! Their schedule this season (based on last season's final PS2 rank) is 133rd of 153 teams. Bill Murray would love this fun scheduling note pointed out on a couple of different message boards: Wayzata and Edina play each other for the third time of the season on Feb. 2 -- Groundhog Day.

Great call on Trent Makousy
Makousky with the Richfield Spartans 1986 and 87' was arguably the MOST intimidating player to play against. Makousky, speaking of penalty minutes; broke the high school record in 1986...he piled up 68 minutes in a 20 game season. In 1987, after being beat out of the sectional's by 'Tonka...dropped...

NTDP vs. International competitions

Thanks
[What the heck are the criteria? They scout the kids, invite them to the tryouts in March, and watch them compete there. That leads to some invites being extended. Any remaining roster spots to be filled are decided on after the Advanced 16s in the summer. Walters badly wanted to play there but it ...
