Yes, went to BSM v GR scrimmage today. It was ugly for GR. BSM outscored Rapids 4-0 before the break. After the break they were working on penalty kills. I only stuck around for about 20 minutes of that. Rapids looked like they had never played together in their lives. BSM looked pretty complete and...

I won't get into predictions. I expect Rapids and East will both have good teams. But, there are three things I think are the biggest concerns for me, given GR's apparent advanced talent-level this year: 1) Conditioning; 2) Chemistry; and 3) Mental toughness. If Coach Klatt can solve those three iss...

Other than XO on a different thread saying he heard Mattson is staying in Bloomington all season, has anyone seen any verification of this as fact? The GR website is not showing any such news or announcements that I can find. Call it Orange Crush and Tang induced denial, but it would be nice to know...

Rothstein kept the team competitive, always seemed composed on the bench, never did anything for which the community would be ashamed, and the players did not look like they ran amok. I assume he did well leading these young men in the right directions, so that is what is important. Thanks to him. T...

Well this is getting tiresome, so let's wrap this up. The original topic has totally derailed. I will offer a final response, then will comment on this topic no further. Then you can have all the final words you want. First, Import, if you are having trouble letting it go, then you are probably taki...

For all my flaws, I still don't organize a group of several hundred guys to pick on high school girls, especially in a public venue. If STA is the superb institution it purports, then with the privilege of attending can either come a sense of responsibility or a sense of entitlement. Fine individual...

I wouldn't dismiss or bag on Randolph. The track record demonstrates there is really something there. I seem to recall the STMA faithful saying similar things about Esse from Cloquet right up until they lost 9-4. I thought both Rapids and East represented themselves well today. Rapids had plenty of ...

Sorry boys, misdirection won't change the facts. I'm neither a mom nor a dad of the victims. Actually, I did not care for the team STA was playing. I took my grandson to his first hockey game and wanted him to cheer for a winning team. We sat among the STA adults, a bit to the side and above the cad...

Sorry, I can't abide the St Thomas Cadets after witnessing them abusing other teams' cheerleaders. I guess they think they are real tough guys picking on high school girls. Maybe it is good practice for the future, if their wives don't indulge their Peter Pan Syndromes. They may be part of the 1%, b...

Well this is all fun to contemplate, but it will be nice to move on to the criticisms of the outcomes of the seeding process. I quit looking at ER-GR-DE-STMA and looked at the section results for CEC-FL-And. That obfuscated things even more. But, one thing did come crystal clear: props to Andover fo...

This has to be a very satisfying win for STMA and their fans. Even with the weak SoS, it sounds like they were prepared for the task tonight, so now we start learning just how good they are.

I have a question regarding applying the litmus test of strength-of-schedule to some teams, but not others. I see STMA largely discounted from higher seed discussions because despite a gaudy record, it was built against poorer quality competition. They are routinely dismissed when speculating on who...

I think folks may be over-thinking this. The guidelines are established regarding who is AA and who is A. The A teams have the OPTION to "opt-up" to AA. Regardless of how good they are year-in and year-out, it is optional to move-up. Any way you slice it, it is the nature of sports that do...

Ok, now we're getting somewhere. First, Mazak55, although Traxler may have gone a little over the top, I too was finding the "cede" in place of seed a bit distracting. But, no big deal. Just don't let it happen again. Although I am sipping my Orange Crush right now, I will suggest that if ...

Mazak55 it would seem you are suggesting STMA going to the section finals. I guess that is as fair a speculation as any.
