Re: Coach Lechner
St Paul I agree...Hands down a bucket list event for any hockey fan in the world But are you saying you are perfectly fine with the same schools returning every year? Are you perfectly fine with one team going 14 out of 18 years? Are you perfectly fine with the level of recruiting currently going on...

14 of the past 18 season Hill has made it to state
Either they have one very large recruiting budget or it's time to seriously think about realignment
But SEC Scotty is correct. I'm bored with the AA tournament and probably won't watch a game this year

Re: State Tourney AA Seeding Predictions
I'm cheering for the team with
1. Least amount of recruits
2. The team with the most amount of kids that left High School early for juniors (just so the kids playing junior hockey will be kicking themselves for leaving early)
So I'm thinking that is Maple Grove and Edina

Re: State Tourney AA Seeding Predictions
What would be cool to see is a number along side each teams name showing how many kids transferred to that school within the past two/ three years
Anyone up for that task? Tracking the recruiting side of this tournament

I can't figure out what we are arguing about As I see it A hornet fan is complimenting a Skipper team (that's rare..but good for hockey) A Shakopee goalie gets to brag 20 years from now how he once stopped 62 shots in a section game YHH gets some free press Chanhassen is licking their chops thinking...

Good stuff As long as we all admit....These are not "kids" decisions...These are "dad" decisions Dad's in a hurry..Said kid just wants to keep dad happy Until I see a kid in a lobby of a rink, tugging on dads Canada Goose jacket begging him to leave, this is my perception. More s...

Don't think for a second it's the kids "truly" making these decisions to forgo their final season of High School These decision are 99.99% driven by parents in a "rush" Guess what dad...You are going to wake up years from now and say what the heck did I do? Why did I wipe out a y...

If you're a parent reading this thinking 1. should I pull my kid out of HS hockey early 2. Should I do before and after in the NA or USHL The answer is NO NO and Hell NO Slow down....Colleges don't want your kid now until he's 20-21 years old Dominate HS school hockey as long as you can .....and if ...

Then they are eligible immediately But a job transfer from Minnetonka to Edina does not fly.....Kids can drive themselves to their old schools.... I'm sure someone a lot smarter than me can think of the 1-2 "special cases"...Ie...A family moving from Thief River Falls to say Lakeville for ...

Slap shot...if you tell me a very good hockey player who's say a sophomore, moves from Edina to Minnetonka for "academic reasons" I will laugh myself off this chair. It's always about hockey..Yes we can disguise it as academics, divorce and the good old reliable excuse " the bully&quo...

Re: AA Rankings for 12/19/21
High School hockey is no longer a community based sport Parents will continue to shop their kids for greener pastures MSHSL is sitting on their hands with little or no desire to fix this (and it's very easy to fix) Coaches say they are handcuffed, but come on, we are all smarter than that AD's just ...

Re: 2022 UMHSEL Thread
I think we can all agree the High School Elite league isn't what it was originally set up for My understanding is that it was MAINLY designed to keep the good kids from leaving for juniors (by giving them more games) In my opinion, it has recently failed and is in need of some new ideas and definite...

I am a one class kind of guy but even I have to admit it's time for a 3rd class Recruiting is only going to get worse...Families are cutting deals in AAA hockey. Coaches are so smug today they don't even hide or deny the fact that they are recruiting. Parents are shopping their kids constantly and l...

Goldy you are 1000% correct We all become products of the sources we read and watch (CNN, Fox, CNBC...Star Tribune, Trumps twitter account and yes even Facebook)...For every article written by a medical expert that we should shut down the world, there's another article written by a expert saying jus...

Sid Hartmans son Chad Hartman: “I want to make it clear — he didn’t die from COVID — but COVID took away the enjoyment from his life by making him stay home,” his son said later. “It took away the chance to see the people he liked. It took away his zest, not being able to go four, five different pla...

This may be to late but I think every high school hockey team should strongly consider doing the Bridge Season
It would send a clear and concise message to MSHSL that if you continue to sit on your hands, the hockey community will respond

Back to the original post Typically Bantam tryouts are a month ahead of High School ones so isn't this kind of a moot point? or is the originator of the post thinking after a kid makes a the Stillwater Bantam AA team and goes and tries out for Hill Murray varsity team and doesn't make it should he s...

So what is the bigger problem Class A schools playing mainly a Class AA schedule all year then dropping down to class A ? Or Class AA schools that mainly play a Class A schedule throughout the year? Personally I think the rule should be "if you want to play up, be my guest. But you can't play d...

Puck8 I like a lot of your ideas...especially going to two halves As far as the icing....I'm all in favor of banning icing all together at the squirt level. Keep the kids moving/hustling THE ONLY reason changing the icing and offsides rule may not work is sometimes a whistle is the only way to get s...

I would love to see a 32 team playoff (No Classes)
First couple rounds would be held in historic arena's throughout the state (Friday/Saturday games until you get to 8 teams)
I would make sure NO games are played on Olympic size rinks

Are the public schools doing a better job of recruiting than the private schools? Think of it this way....It could be similar to that of college hockey... The colleges today that seem to be enjoying the most success are the ones patiently waiting to offer scholarships...Meanwhile other schools (like...
