Re: The Gentry Academy Thread
I'm hoping Gentry will expand and open satellite schools in Duluth, Moorhead, St. cloud, EGF, Rochester, and eventually Mankato. Watching Gentry-Lake Superior play Gentry-Great Plains in the tourney would be a dream come true. Heck, with the right geographic strategy, an all-Gentry tourney could be ...

Re: Class A QF - Dodge County vs Hermantown
I wish Hermantown would move to AA as do most people because I feel they can compete at the AA level.... But I'm enjoying the "this is a very boring A tournament" talk now that the Hawks have left the dance. Sometimes there's a "be careful what you wish for" feeling. Having a vi...

Very true, and apparently the JV hadn't skated for 3 weeks, so who knows what they could have done if fully primed?InThePipes wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 8:39 pm A bounce here or there in the HT direction and it would have been a really interesting game.

Re: Class A QF - Dodge County vs Hermantown
Well that was weird.
There are few things in life sweeter than watching Hermantown lose at state, but this was no fun. I'm glad the JV kids got their moment under the lights though.
Good luck to DC in the next round!

Re: The Gentry Academy Thread
Look, the bottom line is Gentry should not be allowed to exist in the MSHSL. It is no secret that their entire existence revolves around recruiting kids specifically to play hockey at their school. EVERYONE knows it. Elite prospects says a lot of kids on their roster come from out of state, as far ...

Re: Hermantown JV to play Dodge Co.
So, I barely follow Class A at all; what are the odds of Hermantown winning with their JV? There’s a chance, especially if Plante is able to give it a go and is near his normal self. This suddenly becomes the most interesting game of the day tomorrow. I have to think DC's varsity d-men will be more...

Per Star Tribune: Hermantown will use a mostly JV roster, consisting of 10 skaters and a goalie, and Zam Plante will play.

Re: Hermantown JV to play Dodge Co.
In the Twitter thread from Sam Ali, there is a post from what is ostensibly a Hermantown parent and/or coach: "Wait till you hear the whole story....you will see it for what it is/fake/revenge etc." It's Twitter, so obviously I have no idea if there is any truth here, but if so, it adds an...

Re: The Gentry Academy Thread
Stang- they just beat their nearby East Side A class state champ? I mean call it what you want- we all know that’s what’s been coming back to the beginning of the season I mean what’s wrong with new programs, and what’s wrong with having quick success ? I think quick success is great, and I begrudg...

Re: The Gentry Academy Thread
If you look at Mahtomedi's roster this year and the past few years, they also have players from several communities. So nice try with the blaming because they are private. A top program private or public, in both A and AA don't need to recruit. Players show up because they want to be a part of a wi...

Re: 7A early prediction
Hermantown wins 7A in a shocker. :^o Way too early 2022 prediction: Hermantown might be even better next year. Denfeld losing some key pieces, but shouldn't drop off too much and will likely stay in top ten. Hibbing and Virginia will both be better and close the gap with Denfeld, but probably still ...

Re: Section 7AA Final - Andover vs Grand Rapids
I thought the writing was on the wall when Rapids couldn't convert on their three PPs in the first period. Offensive firepower was always this team's Achilles Heel, and when they didn't take the early chances they got, it spelled trouble. Garrett Schifsky was the difference-maker, along with Will L...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
With the bantam goalie a transfer from Hibbing. Hibbing's sophomore goalie had a .935 sv% against teams other than Hermantown this season, so I'd imagine the goalie that transferred would have had a tough time getting playing time before his senior year. Goalie does seem to be the one spot that Her...

It's mostly private schools, but Grand Rapids, Cloquet, Roseau are the publics that come to mind. I think also: Bemidji, Totino, BSM, STA, Blake, HF, Duluth Marshall. Gentry next season. Is Gentry moving up to AA next year a 100% sure thing? Not questioning just curious if it's been confirmed or is...
