O-Town, generally speaking I agree with most of your thoughts. I think your a little off on this one. NTDP is a waste of HUGE amounts of money. Advanced program offers more kids more chances, but still can be a little goofy. You ask if we should be spending more money chasing kids down from wherever...

So do you also want to see who is the best at skating around tires at tryouts? Can the kid play hockey? Some of the best probably couldn't jump the highest or do acceleration tests the best. Play hockey at tryouts, take the best hockey players.

interview

I always brag to non-hockey people about how hockey interviews should be shown to athletes in a "this is how you act" class. The first TV interview my son had I was afraid he was going to come off as cocky, but he nailed it. Take the post game interview with the Breck kid and put it in the...

refs

Why do MN HS refs turn this into such a soft game? Way too many callls, then the only legit they don't give the penalty shot.

SSM

The SSM kids try-out where they have a home address. Some kids not from Faribault have parents with addresses in Faribault, a town home or maybe a second house. The others tryout in their home district.

The teams coming from D4 won't see much of a difference, Luverne and Marshall are way out West. I just wish there was some pheasants by LaCrescent.

So it is about the money, not about the kids. Kids in the NA only pay billet, what does it cost the kids to play for the Hawks?

Soulforged has some good points. Rochester should wait at least a year to pass judgement. I am not sure that they will dominate like all think. Some of the A bantam teams of the past would have been a dominant force in the new D9, I just don't see that out of Roch. anymore. The A PW's are coached ve...

The NHL is dying out? Since I first became aware of hockey at a young age, hockey has become a truly international sport. How many hockey games are played every night? How many instances of contact in all those games? How many serious injuries? I have watched 100's of games (1000's?) and have only s...

Faribault

This Faribault group is set to make a run. This will be one of the better Sec. 1 teams we have seen in a few years. They have competed very well with top metro teams coming up the youth ranks. If a goaltender can step up, this team could really turn heads. Lourdes should be tough as always, the end ...

UJHL

In February 2009, the entire North Division left the UJHL. The reason given by the league was lack of finances.[3] In March 2009, Penn, Jamestown, and Findley also left the UJHL, leaving two active teams.[4]. Taken from Wikipedia.

Hockeyblitz, I read your posts from early in the season and you said the same thing about AL that you do now. Goaltending proved to be very good at the end of the season and they proved to be right up there at the top of Sec.1 with 2 very good games with Red Wing, split with Lourdes and were co-cham...

Elliott, I agree with you on just about everything but this one. I was up in TRF a few years back with a group of '93's and the reason we drove 6.5 hours was to play there. The kids still talk about it, they loved that place.
