Re: 7AA 2019-2020

I can tell you from direct experience with a similar situation. A interim head coach could set the program back. If there is an opportunity to simply make a hire, that would be ideal. If the guy you want is available, then yes absolutely hire him. However, if the guy you want (long-term) is in a he...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020

We're just over two weeks away from the beginning of the season. I highly doubt Rapids will hire a permanent replacement, more likely due to the timing they will name an interim for this season and plan to do the full interview process in the Spring. If they want the best possible candidate then tha...

Some of the kids listed are still HS aged, so it does have some relevance to the HS hockey landscape.

WM - hearing rumblings that Michaelis and Humphrey may have had a change of heart. I don't see Michaelis on Waterloo roster. Humphrey on SC Blizzard roster, but could be doing before/after. Have you heard anything?

Re: Which Varsity programs utilize their JV teams well?

Hill-Murray has basically run their JV program as a Bantam team the past few years, with much of the roster filled with 8th and 9th graders. It hasn’t really translated to major success at the varsity level yet, but it is definitely a unique approach, seemingly wanting to get kids into their system...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020

This isn't quite accurate, look a little deeper and you might find a couple more.... I was only accounting for kids who left early to play juniors, not kids who left for Jr Gold, moved out of Elk River, or quit playing hockey. Ok, still not accurate..... Huh, okay. I'll take your word for it. I tho...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020

That’s too bad. What kind of team the Elks going to have this year? 5-8 seed or possible 3/4 seed. How was the kids leaving early numbers before the latest coach took over. In this three years as head coach Gustafson hasn't lost kids early at any higher rate than Roberts did before him. In Gordie's...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Appears Totino is getting a freshman goalie that played the last couple years with Gentry's '04 team. Probably not any varsity impact this year, but the Eagles have a good goalie for the future.

Wait until Marshall drops to A. They’ll put Centennial or Blaine in 7AA. I hope it’s Blaine. I wonder if Blaine would put CEC or Grand Rapids on their schedule. 7AA is wacko metro 7AA squads don’t schedule north 7AA squads. Duluth East plays Andover. Nobody else does in the north 7AA. DEast and Elk...

Agreed. 7AA is has more single A programs that want to play with the big boys....... Isn't there only 2 programs that actually opt up in 7AA? Duluth Marshall CEC St. Francis Grand Rapids Duluth East ......could all legally play in single A I believe St. Francis is moving to single A next year.
