If he sticks around, its Hurley's to lose. Since this award is mostly selected by NHL scouts, and Hurley has been a favorite all year -- highest ranked high school player in the country -- he's a shoo-in. Besse had it sealed this time last year, just because of his performance at State. I'm going t...

2021. And being the only true independent station in the twin cities makes it easier for them to do tournaments. I truly believe the days of network stations pre-empting regular programs for tourneys is over. And besides the MSHSL noe bundles all tournament TV rights into deal. Much easier than neg...

This sounds perfect for BSM. They'd probably stay independent for hockey, but the North Suburban Conference is eroding. BSM would love to have nearby opponents that have similar levels of competitiveness in most sports.

D3R,

Congrats on your team's victory. I don't think many people on this forum have a problem with Wayzata. Make sure you don't ruin that.

Just heard that the reporter of this article will be on with Patrick Reusse in about 10 minutes on AM 1500 to discuss further. http://www.1500espn.com/structurefiles/_stream_popup.php Just got done listening. Thought it was interesting that Pauly was notified, but it was just one day before. I also...

Some things to remember: -There is no "E" in Pauly. -His name is not Alex, it's Alec (we had some problems with that in the last thread). -As far as I know, there is no right to play high school sports, no matter how talented a player is. With most teams, it is up to the coach to assemble ...

Friday, March 7, 2008 Edina beat Benilde 5-4 in O.T. - still the all time attendance record for a hockey game in Minnesota. I believe last year's semis actually surpassed that. You are correct, I looked it up. Ironically though Benilde was one of the four teans in the semi's both of those record ye...

I think the problem is that the goal judge is most likely some dad doing his first game, trying to get volunteer hours for his kid in youth hockey (I don't know that for sure, but I know that's how it works for the people in the scorers box). The net was so wide open that the natural reaction is to...

I find it funny that Wayzata, a team that finished the regular season 1-3 and a team that nobody picked to win the section (just check the prediction thread), is now the favorite to beat the No. 1 seed and No. 2 team in the state, a team which has lost twice in 2013, once in a blizzard. They'll be at both. They have a busy day today with gymnastics, girls hockey, and boys hockey, but it looks like they'll have it all.
