Re: New Body Contact Rules
Hitting a person who doesn’t have the puck certainly can be intimidating. It’s also illegal. The game is so fast especially when you are playing it, sitting in the stands it may appear the players have "tons of time" to avoid contact, not so much when you are on the ice and have committed...

Re: New Body Contact Rules
I didn't see anyone say anything about going out of your way to "finish a check". Finishing should be as a part of the play, many times if you dont "finsh" and let that guy go free.. you are out of the play.. Difference in taking yourself out of the play... sometimes it happens, ...

Re: New Body Contact Rules
... They are specifically targeting intimidation. I think that intimidation is needed in hockey, so the small little hacks cant get away with being a small little hack. Everyone here knows that there is far too much small stuff that people get away with that can't be called, otherwise it would be a...

Re: New Body Contact Rules
Agree, the ugly stuff needs to come out, but they are amputating the game, trying to find a quick fix. Some examples, the "no icing rule" on PK it's no more to generate creativity: it's to generate scoring/opportunities, removal of checking at younger ages: give kids a chance to score with...

Re: New Body Contact Rules
I don't mind that at all, hate to see calls because the crowd "Oooohhh'd" after a hit as it was violent or loud. I hate the big guys who target little guys, but love the guys who are not the biggest but have guts to go after the guys bigger than them when it's part of the play. I know ref'...

Re: New Body Contact Rules
Agree... hate the fact guys first thought when retrieving a puck on the wall is to turn your back on the oncoming defender. You put yourself in harms way and if the guys with the whistle think it is fine to do that the defending team loses a guy for 2/10 or longer, but guy turning his back, could be...

New Body Contact Rules
What are your thoughts? I watch the below and cringe, not only because of some of the crappy examples they give (for both sides) but by how we are taking any of the onus off the player with the puck to play heads up hockey. To me responsibility for preventing injury falls on both parties, puck carri...

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey
Seen more than a fair share of kids move in from out state who's parents chase the dream. From one dad, "MN hockey is WAY different than *****, my kid was a superstar there, average when he got here." More fail to reach the dream than actually achieve it.

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
Rumor mill says EP player (who hasn't played HS yet) won't be at EP when season starts... probably not ever... then again... maybe a rumor. Puck , I reconfirmed as best I could tonight that Langenbrunner, Busby , Steeves, and Blake are all locked in. Although, as always , any Forum input to the con...

Have a feeling if they were smart they would stay away from that... didn't work well for CEC... in my opinion, to hot headed for youth sports... at least from all my interactions and those around me who know him.

Re: Worst AA/A sections 1-8, 2019
Wait until Marshall drops to A. They’ll put Centennial or Blaine in 7AA. I hope it’s Blaine. I wonder if Blaine would put CEC or Grand Rapids on their schedule. 7AA is wacko metro 7AA squads don’t schedule north 7AA squads. Duluth East plays Andover. Nobody else does in the north 7AA. Probably be R...

Re: Let’s see some top 10 lists for AA, 2019
Ran into a Bengal dad recently.. thinks they might be considerably below last season. He's concerned about goal-tending (0 starts going into Sr year.), says he heard they are trying out forwards to play D as they are so weak on back side, and thinks loss of Brodzinski puts to much pressure on Richel...

Seeing some of the personnel decisions on some benches I think it's an issue that is way more wide spread !!!!

Re: Serious question around HS players and drugs/alcohol
Interesting how some of the worst kept secrets, get hidden away year after year... think we all want kids to do/be their best, but think a lot of programs look away if the kid isn't "caught", especially if a talented player. Yeah coaches need to win, but it should be life lessons more so, ...

Serious question around HS players and drugs/alcohol
So not like any other season, I have heard of a few players, from high profile commits to role players, getting in trouble or being placed in treatment programs/DUI's/ etc.. How do or should these be handled by the programs/HS league? Do off-season out of school issues face consequences? I am not lo...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
I have to agree, but I don't think they care honestly. I am curious to see how they do in their new home though, some better talent around them some give and take for points, but if egos are in check and coaches use them in the right ways with the right guys, could be pretty interesting how 5AA shak...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
It all depends, I think they are both good players, should have been on HSEL as well as a couple others that IMHO got snubbed. Some guys only like the points guys, they (CB) didn't have many in HSEL tryouts, but noticeable. So many forwards... guys have their favorites. There's D that to me were roc...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters
Apparently the team the Warroad (Red North Team) boys were on scored one goal in 3 games and had double digits scored against. I don't think goals and wins should be a big factor always, but at least that's the word on some of the North boys not getting love other than the invites.
