Re: Jackson Blake
I hope the MSHSL goes back to a "play where you live" model. So if a kid open enrolls to another HS they can't play Varsity sports? Minnesota was at the forefront of open enrollment so I don't see that even being legal. Nope, just still "play where you live". If you want to open...

Re: Jackson Blake
Looking at this from a distant view, I do have sympathy for a kid who plays at an association all the way up in youth but was convinced to go to "greener pastures" for a year or part of a year but decides to come back. Looking at it honestly, the probable reason this thread has hit 5 pages...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
And Pekyman, I used to root for HT at state (even when they played a team from another area where I knew a bunch of the players parents) because they're a northern team (all area type northern "A" HS playoff team now). My rooting died when the whining started and when I saw what charade th...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
Hermantown beat East about 15 years ago, East pulled out of the LSC and has not played HT sense. Nobody at that time would have demanded that HT should play AA Hockey. I understand EAST pulling out of the LSC, but not playing Hermantown again because HT beat them is BS. It is actually ridiculous th...

Re: Single A Top Twenty 12-8-2019
MY Rankings do not rank until a team has 5 games played. Where's 5-0-0 St. Paul Johnson? Shutting out the #6 team in their home barn isn't enough to get them in the top 20 ahead of sub .500 teams? I'm rooting for SP Johnson this year and will be on their bandwagon (unless they hopefully play Denfel...

Greenway has a lot of work to do for now.

Re: Future of Duluth Marshall
Hermantown just outshot Duluth Marshall 48-4, winning 10-0. And no JV for Marshall. I’d say that program is officially dead. And they play AA???????? Hibbing is officially dead as well. Proctor and Denfeld are in great shape long term. Not dead forever, just dead in their current form. Something dr...

Re: Canadian Teams
Like anything, it depends (area/city, association, # kids, etc). Winnepeg and Thunder Bay have very strong top end teams. Canada classifies everything with "A" so the are no B or C teams. Most times when Canadian teams come down to tourneys in MN, from what I've seen, they're overly fair i...

Re: Greenway welcomes Deer River to hockey
I was mainly wondering why Greenway, since they have to drive through Grand Rapids to get to there. The Vikings and Timberwolves will win a title in the same season before a Rapids-Greenway merger. Yeah my bad, sorry, I read your post wrong. Greenway makes more sense for Deer River as far as number...

Raider could verify and I could be wrong but I think the day you see Greenway combine with GR for boys is the same day you'll see snow in Hades.TwinCitiesImport wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2019 9:56 am So is there a reason they are combining with Greenway instead of Grand Rapids?

Re: Jackson Blake
Where did he play last year? Eden Prairie Bantam from January on. If he "moved" (change of address), you are allowed one for your HS "career". My question is: how was he allowed to play on the bantam team if he came back in January? MN hockey states that you are required to be r...

Re: 2019-2020 Coaching Changes List
Scott Pionk has been a great mentor to kids in programs other than where his kids have been at for years now. He has done it quietly and without fanfare, helping some of these kids move on to the next level. He's straight forward and honest (even with the talent level of where his own kids have been...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters
The great plains coach is from EGF, thus he cannot coach his own kids, they have to play on the north team, he and clafton have a wink wink to take as many of each others kids as possible. Thats the benefit of being the coach. If organizations want their kids on tge team the coaches need to get inv...

He’ll now disappear into the large pool of junior hockey and just be another player trying to make it. Unless he plays with Hermantown, Denfeld, or Duluth Marshall this year and next 🤔 He will be just fine (but he is not coming back). He's big, strong, hard worker and more importantly: has great ch...

So quit talking about it or hoping they leave. Second, nobody at Hermantown wants the Virginia kid (who is going to Hermantown next year, loc...

Pekyman, there it is... Why would you assume his program is begging kids to come? (Because everyone else's programs suck?). I don't believe Jeffy has ever stated which program that he's from but I'm thinking it's East (?). East has hardly "begged" kids to come but they do have kids come in...

Apparently HT is going after a goalie from Cloquet and a leading scorer from Virginia. Hearing that the Virginia "homegrown" transplant bought a house in HT to be eligible for next year.

Re: Class A 2019-2020
Agreed, I'd pump the brakes on Denfeld a bit. As good as their bantam team was this year, they only beat Hibbing 3-2 and 3-1, and Virginia 3-0, so it's not like they were light years ahead of other 7A teams. Plus, their Pee Wee team was 2-23, so it doesn't appear there will be a solid sophomore cro...

Re: Class A 2019-2020
Denfeld losing a ton. They will have 2 forwards and goalies. Period. The 2 forwards returning were Denfelds leading scorers. Denfeld loses #3 & #4 leading scorers but gain at least 4 forwards coming up that can play and score. The forwards coming up are more complete that play far better both w...
