Re: Jackson Blake

Compare this to Motzko Motzko - Family moves to the cities for job.....The kid doesn't like Minnetonka after one year of Varsity and moves back to St Cloud to live with friends or other family members - Immediately eligible (and I've stated in earlier posts, I am glad they allowed this) Blake- Leave...

Re: Final Cuts

The biggest thing I've seen over the last several years is the lack of empathy some coaches (and many parents) have shown towards these kids getting cut For so many kids, it's truly the first time they didn't "make it" High School is stressful enough and to toss this at these young kids su...

Re: Might be an ugly season...

I think you may be confusing what I am trying to say (and that may be my fault) I'm not saying the reffing is BAD...I'm say they (whoever they may be...Districts, MN Hockey, USA Hockey) are most likely asking the refs to call the game a little tighter...What use to be a good solid, body on body chec...

Re: Might be an ugly season...

I've said it before..Nowadays parents/kids are so wrapped up in Skill they forget that if you can't compete you probably won't last long at the next level. The problem is refs, (ie MN Hockey/USA Hockey), is slowly taking the physical side of this sport out of the game. I see way to many whistles whe...

Re: University of St Thomas

Attendance is a great topic as it pertains to St Thomas possibly going D-1 On one hand you have schools like ASU playing in front of 400 people and the U of MN playing in a arena half full. My guess is St Thomas would struggle to draw in the casual Metro area hockey fan. Just to much competition in ...

Re: Bantams vs. High School

My personal view on this... I like a forward to practice more puck possession the younger they are...Puck on stick, time and space to make the right decision. Repetition...over and over and over I think this is a little more important than playing to a faster speed.. I think speed is easier to learn...

Re: Bantams vs. High School

There is no right or wrong answer but if you told me I was in charge of making the decision I would say take your time and stay at Bantams Bantams 45-55 games You're kid is probably on the PP and top 6 (maybe top 3) weekend tournaments (the last you'll probably experience this) Lots of free press fr...

Re: Watch NTDP vs Elite League this weekend

He will be an early early first round draft choice...That's a given Aside from that, we must all admit hockey is really no longer a contact sport. I see more hitting in a non checking pee wee game then I do some USHL games. Imagine 5-10 years ago a team going down 3-1 or 4-1....Coach calls a timeout...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

I think picking ONE all star team would prove to be HIGHLY political and the results may actually be the same.... If you opened it up to every kid, how would you pick a "fair" team? Would you have the kids vote for the team(s)? The coaches? The scouts? How do you propose taking the politic...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Do we know how many times since #7 was added has the High School league still said NO (even after both AD's signed off on it)? To me, once they added in #7 the flood gates are now wide open....A good number of AD's could care less about hockey and will sign a piece of paper for any family wanting to...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

I have no dog in this fight and have stated I'm okay with him going back... But from a learning the rules standpoint, how is it he's allowed to go back and play if I quote the newspaper article "he will stay with friends and family during the season" Is it as simple as getting both AD's to...

Re: Will Curt Giles ever get his due?

Giles is in a tough spot If he wins, it's because of his deep pool of talent (and the money behind it) If he loses he is going to get blamed. He doesn't seem to want the attention, he doesn't make excuses and you don't find him hanging out at Bunny's with the parents It's the highest profile, most d...

Can anyone remember the last time a high profile player (or school) was busted for this rules violation?

Does anyone know if they even investigate a player if there's an actual inquiry?

I think if you left and came back "years" later there shouldn't be any issues It's the ones that left and came back a year later that needs more clarification In the case of the kid who's dad coaches at the U...I am perfectly fine with that and there should be no issues if he goes back (as...

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey

just let it go scout...let it go......I'm not going to argue with you on if the tournament is a good one or not..But to try and convince me that one weekend in quebec is worth giving up a whole season of association hockey is laughable at best. You're better than that..

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey

Doc Holiday I think MNMade does an excellent job in early development.Their choice Mite league in really good for kids starting out. Plus it takes the pressure of associations who are already hurting for ice time. Most associations pile 40-50 mites on the ice for 45 minutes of babysitting. The train...

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey

For every TJ Oshie there are 1,000 plus families out there where things don't work out. The bottom line is like or not, HS hockey is no longer a community sport. It's now a group of all star teams. AAA hockey has had a lot to do with this as friendships are made during the spring and these ideas got...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Elliott Can you remember a high profile case were MSHSL actually enforced this rule? ie a family or school was caught red handed? This deal is somewhat unique in that the kid is wanting to go back and play with his buddies and the only reason they left in the first place was a job transfer. For that...
