Re: Jefferson and AHA

No offense, but who cares? This isn't the year for either of these teams. Both are in decline IMO, and have been for some time. AHA graduated a bunch of seniors last year and this year have 4 on the roster; 2 are between the pipes and the 2 that aren't don't seem to be huge scoring assets. Year in ...

AHA will have a much easier time bouncing back. Jefferson's perceived decline could be based on hockey demographics in the city of Bloomington. It already happened on the east side of Bloomington, where Kennedy was a very powerful program throughout the 1980's, winning the state title in 1987. But b...

How about no checking within 5ft of the boards??? Angle and open ice checks only. This would almost eliminate all serious injuries with the exception of some concussions suffered from open ice hits. I realize this would drastically change the game but it's just an idea that could be tweaked a bit. ...

I think Eagan's lack of games vs top teams will hurt them in this one, but this game will help them in the long run. I'll take Tonka 4-3 in this one in a very exciting game.

From what I've seen watching Eagan play the last couple years it does surprise me a little that none of their players have made college commitments yet, but I suspect they will eventually. Zajac is the first MN senior listed on Heisenberg's recruit list, so it's hard to say he's gone unnoticed. He's...

Maybe he thinks you're Jake's dad, brother, uncle... All jokes aside, it was a victory against a preseason top 20 AA hockey team and the Eagles should be happy with that. After the incredible senior class of 2011 it will be interesting to see how EP does over the next couple years. Although 90% of t...

Haha just a fan. Moved to Eagan last year and took my son to 5 or 6 of their games. Plan on going to a couple more this year, starting with the game at EP on Saturday.

What were Eagan's line pairings? Did they have Zajac, Merchant, and Kuchera on a line together or did they go for more balanced lines?

Certainly not a surprise. Mario is a very good hockey player, but this is probably the best fit for him. It would've been nice to see him in a Gophers sweater, but hopefully we'll get a chance to see him play in MN again after his years in South Bend. Best of luck to Mario!

It's possible to play both if a player plays Elite League in the fall and USHL in the spring after their HS season is over, but probably not both concurrently.

Getting back to the original topic, I'll be very happy to see solid players like Louie Nanne and Vinni Lettieri playing for the U. These kids will undoubtedly respect and want to build on the tradition of the Gopher hockey program. They'll probably both be 4 year players who put in a ton of effort d...

Re: D

So, you think an Elite D squad (ages 14-16) would defeat an MNJHL team (18-21)? What about practices? don''t MNJHL teams practices far more? What kind of answer are you looking for? You are comparing apples to oranges in many ways. Who cares who would win a game between an Elite D league team and a...

I watched Eagan play quite a few games last year and their goaltending was very inconsistent. As it looks now, that still seems to be their biggest question mark. Call me skeptical, but these goalies will have to prove themselves before I'd consider them top contenders for the state title. They shou...

To me the front runner is Duluth East. They return a lot of very talented players from a very good team last year. Their experience in the tourney will help them if they make it back next March. After that I'd list (in no real order): BSM & Tonka - probably 1&2 in that section. BSM has some ...
