Re: Will Curt Giles ever get his due?
I'll say one huge difference between Giles and Randolph is that Giles cares only about his team. Randolph only cares about winning games and will destroy a kids potential in order to play a style that helps the team win. If a kid wants to develop he doesn't go to East HS he goes to Edina. That right...

Re: Worst AA/A sections 1-8, 2019
I don't proclaim to be the smartest person in the world but I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to see the way it's going after the section realignments this year i.e. Anoka to Section 7AA, Tartan to Single A, etc... Just seems to me that the league wants to go to 3 classes or do the Top 32 te...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
Kids transferring and families moving into HT is not the issue because it’s all within the rules of the league. If you have issues with the rules you should write or set a meeting with the league office in Brooklyn Park.
HT sandbagging it and playing Class A instead of AA is the issue.

Re: 7AA 2019-2020
I'm sure Duluth would love to host Can’t do that. The northern teams would always win every single year due to home ice advantage. Could rotate it between Duluth and the cities. Then every other year you’ll have a northern team and a southern team as section champs since the home team always wins t...

It looks to me like they’re setting up to go with 3 classes after the next meeting in two years which I’ve heard (on here) is going to be a big change.

Wow. A lot of opting down to A. Soon the AA tourney will just be Edina vs all private schools. How exciting!

Re: St Cloud State
It truly is amazing how bad they have choked the past few years. I have no idea how St. Cloud was only able to score once against AIC. This team is loaded with talent and should’ve had no problem winning. 2018-19 Ranked #1 and lose to #31 AIC 2017-18 Ranked #1 and lose to #27 Air Force 2015-16 Ranke...

Re: AA school fielding an additional A team
Edina JV would be at class A state every single year! I dislike this idea. Class A should be about giving additional teams a chance to play at state that can’t ever compete with the big schools. Allowing JV teams would pretty much eliminate that and bring us back to the single class era. Would it im...

Re: Ideas that should be brought to the Minnesota Hockey Board
Neck guards mandated all districts (it may be a rule already) Figure out a long range plan to get the middle and lower income families back into hockey... Tell Minnesota hockey to try to eliminate some of the High Performance stuff in the spring and summer so kids can truly attempt to play a 2nd sp...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state
All the talk about going back to 1 class seems odd too when you think about how everyone loved the Greenway story this year. If we are in a one class system, for Greenway to get to state, not only do they have to beat Hermantown, but also a Elk River/Cloquet quality opponent and then probably East....

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state
I don’t think anybody is saying we should go back to a 1 class system. I just think there are AA teams that play A and those teams should move up to keep with the spirit of allowing other teams a chance to play at state instead of having two state tournaments that have equal caliber teams so the fan...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020
Stanley, the YHH rankings are based on results over the entire season so it would be arguable they are a better picture than the top of the LPH rankings which are based entirely on state tourney results. Although much of the top 10 is similar between the two. Next years Bantam group for Andover was...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state
Why was the two tier and/or two class system created? Answer: To give more kids and teams the opportunity to play at state. Why are we trying to create two equal tournaments? We have AA caliber teams playing against and beating up on the weaker towns. I can’t agree with that being ok. I don’t think ...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state
Hermantown, East Grand Forks, St. Cloud Cathedral, Alexandria. Move these teams up to AA. Then make a few moves to the sections in the metro and it’ll help. Also not sure why teams (like Mounds View, Hopkins, St Louis Park, Anoka, Burnsville, Jefferson, etc...) don’t recruit like Edina, Tonka or EP?...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020
I’m not too familiar with YHH but seems their rankings are quite flawed. How could Andover possibly be ranked #3 if they didn’t make it to state? 2016-17 Let’s Play Hockey Bantam AA Final Top 20 Rankings 1 White Bear Lake 2 Osseo-Maple Grove 3 Stillwater 4 Blaine 5 Moorhead 6 Lakeville South 7 Cloqu...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020
I think everyone is too high on Andover. They will have a nice team but will not be a top 5 team like this year. They lose a few key guys but have a few guys returning. East, Rapids, Cloquet and ER will all be top 20 teams. Next year may be the most interesting year in Section 7AA history.

Re: 16 Subsection Model
Overall, it’s a nice model that needs some tweaking ‘g biggest issue is making all but on Metro team go up to Duluth to play. I do not get why that should be the case. Just move it to Mariucci. AmsOil isn’t Duluth East’s home rink. Section 7AA is a northern section and it’s championship game has al...
