Yes. My take is 2000's shouldn't be playing bantams like the rest of the world. The age disparity at bantams translates into a size and strength disparity. If Minnesota Hockey doesn't want 2000 playing high school yet that is fine. Then make a U15 division for that age and then have bantam majors b...

The answer is a lot of them. Many parents from the Twig program have sent their kids to Hermantown to play in the last 10 years. Only a handful ever made the Varsity team. It's just way too early to know how good a kid is going to be at a particular sport. So instead of playing High School hockey w...

Hermantown has gutted the Twig program. Many of the Twig parents (Pike Lake & Saginaw area) wrestle with the difficult decision of moving schools by the fourth grade in fear that their kid will get left behind in hockey. Yes, this is not recruiting, but sad that as a society we have become so o...

What HSHW says about recruiting is true except that it is not recruiting. Produce a quality anything and people will be attracted to it. Hermantown attracts families for a number of reasons with hockey being only one of them. You would half to be bling or stupid to not see that in the Duluth area, ...

After everything I've read about Hermantown the last 2-3 years and all of the compelling reasons why they are not a Class A team, I think what struck me the most was what someone wrote last week. High School playoffs is the longest stretch of Class A opponents that these kids play in their entire Ho...

Cloquet will be the team to beat in 7AA next year. You heard it here first.

Hermantown should be good in the JV Bracket. They return a lot of firepower with Sandelin and the two Proctor kids.

if you watched him through the handshake line and his post game press conference I think you would think he is full of class. Kids get emotional and I don't doubt he had some choice words for the officials, but I don't think that makes him classless. I'm not sure I believe him swearing at scorers i...

I don't have a problem with that. I guess we'll see if the MSHSL does but I would be surprised if they did. He is on the team and served his suspension. Classy move by Klatt if you ask me. The suspension is not yet served. x # of games or two weeks of, whichever is longer. Will sit beginning of fal...

It would be interesting to see what the A tournament would look like if schools had to play in their classification by enrollment? I would think this would increase the interest and attendance in the A tournament. Why would this be bad? You're probably right but that isn't why they went to two clas...

Well, it finally happened. Lou Nanne just called for Hermantown to move up to AA on the Dan Barreiro show. He said Hermantown and Breck are as good as the AA tourney teams and should both be in AA, and that would make the AA and A tournaments better. It was just a matter of time, and now we have th...

Ah man. I just can't pull for Hermantown. Can't do it.
Over a private school??? Really... Any public over a private not even a question.
I agree, but Hermantown is only quasi-public.

IMO, Before and After is the way to go. Best of both worlds. Tufte and Mattson took this route and couldn't be happier with their decisions. No kid will ever regret staying but many will regret leaving. You only get one shot at being a kid.

So what would be a proper amount of AA teams Breck is allowed to play? St. Paul Academy will be the next one that doesn't belong, even though this is their first trip. It would be awesome if the MSHSL stuck it to Providence Academy & made them play Minnetonka in round 1 of 2AA because they can ...

I skipped the TRF-Princeton press conference for Cossetta's purposes, but naturally, I couldn't miss one involving Bruce Plante. First, LDC's Chris Olson said the team "dodged grenades" to keep it within striking distance for most of the first two periods, despite their nerves. He also ta...

Not buying it. Here are their PageStat ratings since 2010: 22,10,11,22, and 4 this year. This team can compete in AA, easily. They've won 4 titles in A and have been to state 8 out of the last 9 years. They routinely play one of if not the toughest schedule in Class A, yet their record since 2009 i...

The TV timeouts allow this to be closer then it would be in a regular game. Beavers can then skate their top 2 lines more and not lose out to GR depth. GR still wins by 3. If Grand Rapids plays the Beavers they probably won't stand a chance. If Grand Rapids plays the Lumberjacks, I still don't like...

What's the biggest scare or threat that Hermantown has had in the last 5-7 years? The closest playoff game they've had in the last 7 years is a 3-2 section final victory over Denfield in 2010. Back in 2012 I remember the Hermantown/Cathedral final being pretty hyped up and a back and forth game yet...

The Analogy is really not too bad. The Soviets took advantage of a system that allowed them to dominate lesser opponents for decades - like Hermantown does now. H'town has won 20 straight section PO games by a combined 146-14 and have only had ONE 1-goal game . Wow! The level of arrogance required ...
