I'm not going to get into the H-town to AA bickering, but I will admit that I am likely skipping at least the quarterfinals of the A tournament this year, because it seems there is no realistic hope of anyone stopping H-town. I used to cheer enthusiastically for H-town, but they've lost me. If I go ...

Some of this may be a bit over-the-top and piling-on. Congratulations to Bemidji for a fine game. They came out skating with intensity and clearly on a mission. Rapids appeared flat and lacked energy. However, to suggest Rapids players were thugs on the ice is simply not in-line with how the game wa...

No doubt the T-hawks are playing undisciplined and taking foolish penalties. But, I'm not ready to panic yet, since it was just a year ago we were lamenting the same mistakes. Then starting in the back half of January they started playing with more maturity and purpose. I trust Coach Klatt to redire...

It appears Grand Rapids' schedule is composed as well. I am guessing on the Edina Classic schedule, based on previous years. I also have to wonder about the apparent start time for the East vs GR game. At any rate, I got this from the Thunderhawks' website. Friday 2-Dec @ Minnetonka 7:00 PM Saturday...

Wow, I never realized that Rapids had such unique problems as teen alcohol and drug abuse, over zealous and meddlesome parents, and parents and players trying to avoid accountability for their actions. But, I guess the GR locals can endeavor to reach the lofty pinnacles of virtue housing some of the...

I agree GR needs to stay out of the box, but the second major was pretty cheap. Nonetheless, they have to adjust to how the zebras are calling the game. The encouraging thing is that they had 10 minutes of major PK, including about a 1-1/2 minutes of 5:3 when a minor was called, and all they gave-up...

Unfortunately, I did not get to make a trip to Duluth, so watched on TV. It looked like Rapids came out really flat to start the game. Perhaps some in attendance can provide better insights. Apparently, Klatt is figuring out how to motivate the T-hawks, because they came out on fire in the second pe...

An encouraging game from GR. There were just a couple times they looked like the players on the ice were out-of-sync or dogging it. The lapses are getting much shorter - tonight maybe a couple 10 second blocks I thought. Otherwise, they seemed to play hard and smart the whole game. The dumb penaltie...

Oh boy, this is great! Comments all over the place integrating H-town depth regardless of class, a Hibbing one-man team, Greenway's inherent superiority over anything from that pathetic town to the west, Rapids inconsistency and lack of character, and even a hockey game Thursday night. From what I s...

It was nice to see Rapids actually keep working the entire game. I haven't seen East this season, so I have no idea if they were off their game the first two periods or on their heels. Rapids was using the body unlike most of their other games this season. From where I sat, the disallowed goal was c...

Yep, Rapids looked like a hockey team in the first period. They did not match the effort or intensity in the second. Adams' major can be called Boarding, or Roughing, or whatever, but the truth is that he got a major for Immaturity and Stupidity. It was a bad penalty and could have been worse - both...

DJ, Thanks for taking the brunt of the abuse, so the rest of the GR fans can comment in relative peace. I understand some commenters being annoyed with the strong Rapids presence on the board, but I think it is pretty cool that one team has so many ...enthusiastic...fans. I am sure a number of other...

Yeah, I'm not sure the third period today is a solid basis for drawing inferences about Rapids in general or the defensemen in particular. If anything I would have concluded the comments are on-target on another thread about Rapids lacking discipline. The penalties were plain stupid today. Does anyo...

Karl, I think you mean that Brainerd will be playing Grand Rapids this week and not Bemidji. Otherwise, I am surprised to see Grand Rapids ranked ahead of Elk River, given the convincing beatdown the Elks inflicted, but I will not pretend to have anywhere close to your insights on the topic. Thanks ...

north_bear, You are right on target. I thought Rapids showed a (recently) uncharacteristic amount of grit and heart in battling back last night. I think there was a pretty good chance without the clock malfunction they do convert on that powerplay. But, BSM had the same delay and figured out a way t...

It is just a scrimmage, so I'm not getting too wound-up one way or the other. GR looked pretty good against H-M last weekend, and generally disinterested against BSM today. It will be more telling to see how they do against the Red Knights next weekend. It did not look to me like Jonah Bischoff was ...
