Re: something fun

It's crazy how everyone forgets to add the 2010 Minnetonka team to these lists. 9 D1 guys who played 4 years of college hockey, 5 of them who wore letters at their respective schools. I guess I didn't put '10 Tonka in because they lost twice to the Edina team that beat them in the final. I didn't p...

Re: covid and MH

I heard a rumor (we all know how those can be) that kids that go to Breakaway are still able to be on the ice as it is considered school.

I wouldn't know how that would work since indoor facilities are to be closed, but just something that I heard.....

Re: State Games To Watch Again or For 1st Time

It's fun to hack on Hermantown in A for sure, but I do have to involve them in two games that I've always thought were as entertaining as it gets when it comes to St. Paul: -2010: Hermantown vs. Mahtomedi. Lots of scoring, the emotion of the waved off goal. First A game I remember where they opened ...

Doc, try decaf in the morning. At least you didn't read all three and before the last sentence in third one ask yourself..."this sounds familiar". Sucks to get old. GB HA HA. I screwed up originally & had myself in the quote block, so I edited it to get rid of that, but have no idea w...

2. Your information on Breck is pretty much on the money (pun intended). I would add that Breck is quite generous with need-based financial aid for all students who require it, but the issue was more of hockey players receiving disproportionate aid, usually under the guise of “alumni scholarships.”...

Re: Edina 2010's All-Decade Team

That is interesting about Edina's goalies. I was born in the late 80's so started following Edina hockey in the mid-90's. I remember thinking Jeff Hall was a super hero, but I was 8 years old. I don't remember how good he actually was. Above average goalie, but turned into Jesus Christ for a brief ...

Re: Greatest Games That Never Were

The 1990-91 Anoka team was the Star Tribune pre season #1 team in the State. They also had two guys get drafted in the 1991 NHL draft, Reimann and Magnusson. One of their top forwards Dan McAlister was injured in football and did not play that hockey season. The fall of 1990, the Anoka football tea...

Re: Edina 2010's All-Decade Team

Good list. Only change I think I'd make is having Connor Girard over Willie Benjamin. That's totally just a nitpick though. Interesting thing about Edina is when is the last time they've produced a goalie? Matt Bertram? Steve Carroll? Larry Thayer? We're going back 40-50 years at this point. That de...

-1986: Edina vs. anybody (probably Edina's best team ever to not make state) -1991: Darby & Richfield vs. Hill-Murray -1993: Jefferson vs. a collection of the best from Moorhead/Hill-Murray/Cloquet. -1995: A best of 7 between Duluth East & Jefferson:This is probably an unpopular opinion, but...

Would it ever be possible for the MSHSL & Minnesota Hockey to come to a combined decision regarding level of play in terms of AA & A? If you play at the AA level in youth, you must play at the AA level for MSHSL? You are allowed to play at the A level in youth and opt up to the AA level for ...

Re: Section 2AA 20-21

I think you may have one more year of EP. Then a year, maybe 2 drop off, and then another strong few years, before a few down years, before a few up years again. Of course, this is all dependent on which brothers play college hockey with which EP alumni or which kids' dads need to be closer to the a...

Re: 1996: Duluth East/Apple Valley

It is kind of a head scratcher to me that Apple Valley hasn’t had a good team in some time with how big the community is and the higher income area -I think the creation of Eastview didn't help anything, so whatever talent was there was now split into two. -I guess I've never really considered Appl...

1997 Edina winning the title. They may have only had 3 losses, but they were clearly the #4 team in that field behind Duluth East, Hill Murray & Moorhead. May argue them behind Rochester Mayo. Listed for winning 2 upsets: -Championship over undefeated Duluth East: It was an upset, but if you wat...

Re: HERMANTOWN VS ST CLOUD CATHEDRAL

I'd have to look back at it, but I think what started a lot of it was a Hermantown guy literally took out the SCC goalie with about 5 seconds left and there was no call. Then add the frustration part of probably being down 2-0. Hermantown was by no means innocent in it either and threw gas on the fi...

+1 on Hankinson. RE Parrish: I don't hate him as much as most here seem to, but I feel his issue he seems to talk more like a coach than color guy explaining what happened or what's going on. Lots of "go to the net"'s and commenting on individual efforts & such. He's adequate, in my mi...

if you do something for A, do you have to do it for AA? Would it be possible to go 6 sections for A & then have a way to fill in the remaining 2 teams? I agree that Wednesday typically seems to be a drag, but the payoff is usually Friday afternoon makes up for it (at least 1 of the games usually...

I used to think that it was seeded 1-8 & they just said that it was random draw, but after some results over the past few years since they've seeded 1-5, I really do think it's random. 2019: #1 Edina drew Moorhead, where most thought Lakeville South would have been "8" 2018: Lakeville ...

Re: Play-offs Wednesday 2/26/2020

First, you do realize the U doesn't schedule conference basketball games, right? Also, it is the University of Minnesota, their events will always take precedence over a rental event, no matter the size, and it should. Both should be fine at the same time, assuming fans can walk further than a bloc...
