JV is practically free. 19U can be thousands of dollars factoring travel, tourneys, etc.

Re: Fall Hockey

I agree that JV is very anticlimactic with no results or stats posted, no playoff or tournament; and most coaches care very little about JV. And the hockey is generally crap, basically equivalent to 15UB. But for many schools (i.e. not Tonka, Edina, Andover, etc.) JV is important. It depends on numb...

Re: Fall Hockey

Why don't some players nominated by their respective coaches get an opportunity to try out? My guess is that some HS coaches don't want to do the dirty work and ruffle feathers on their team by deciding who is and who is not capable of trying out for the Elite league. So rather than sitting through...

Re: An early look at top teams for '22-23

There were rumors Apple Valley and Burnsville were going to merge, but has it been confirmed? Their schedules for the upcoming season show them facing each other, although only once where they play all other SSC teams twice. Obviously schedules can change but you'd think they'd want to figure out a ...

Re: An early look at top teams for '22-23

Appreciate the analysis and insight! Few thoughts: I knew Holy Family lost a lot, but didn't add up the players/point production that graduated. They still have a few solid players left but I don't think Tonka will be nearly as worried about them as last year in 2AA. Unless they have Tonka or Andove...

Heard Grossman is on the Shakopee youth hockey board so presumably lives/has kids in Shakopee. Maybe he wants to coach his kid(s) some day?

Re: State Tourney Tickets

So you mean to tell me that hundreds of season ticket holders resell through Vivid for $60 to $120 mark-up from face value? Yes, has been going on forever. Used to be through scalpers, then Craigslist, now they use the ticket services. Supply and demand, people are willing to pay 500% or more markup.

Re: State Meeting - January 28 to 30

Looks like it was Bantam B, Prior Lake beat Worthington 21-0. Not sure what else MN Hockey can do here, it's B level, and somehow Worthington made it this far. Prior Lake (#2 ranked in state according to YHH) should've took their foot off the gas, this is more on them in my opinion. 9 goals in the 3...

Re: Sections 2AA and 6AA Finals

6AA final was on rink 1 at BIG. That's the Kennedy/Jefferson high school rink, not Olympic. Visually I would think rink 1 holds more than rink 3 but not positive. I think rink 1 has a capacity of about 2300? Similar to Braemar west rink. Which tells us a minimum of ~4500 people bought tickets for th...

Re: 2022 Class AA State Tournament

I've never been a fan of the after game hugs/chit chats with opponents. Not the end of the world and maybe I'm old school, but you're there that night with your team, you shouldn't be fraternizing with the opponent. It's not like they haven't seen each other in months, you know they were chatting/sn...

I’m disappointed that they moved the games from Mariucci. They’re leaving a lot of money on the table (not to mention upset fans) with this decision.

Re: 2022 Class AA State Tournament

I submit the athletes most harmed are those at the incoming schools that lost the benefit of the 9th grade school choice and then lose a chance to play. Why not give them the opportunity to also transfer and seek out playing time if that matters to them, instead of being trapped because their paren...

...the rule I'd put in place regarding player movement is that if a player leaves a school and goes to another, that player will not be eligible for post-season play, in any sport, for one calendar year. Re: 2022 Class AA State Tournament

It would also make too much sense to try and cut down on the movement of players like they're free agents. I was surprised earlier in the thread that so many players were move-ins for Tonka and Andover. I know every situation is different, if a family uproots and moves to Andover or Tonka for hockey...

Re: 2022 Class AA State Tournament

Tonka needs to stay out of the box or it could get lopsided. Man does Tonka (Sadura in particular) have a knack for taking stupid penalties. After Tonka is gifted a terrible penalty call on Mumm, Sadura gifts it right back and costs Tonka the game. Otherwise this was a heckuva game, the best I've s...

Second - in his preamble to last night's games, Joe Schmitt said that "Undoubtedly these are the best four teams in AA this year." Anyone want to work through that declaration? Looking at the BSM and HF fans on the Board here. It's obviously not true, at least to say "undoubtedly&quo...

I agree, I think Edina has a better chance of beating Andover, but Tonka will make for a more exciting offensive game. Tonka needs to stay out of the box or it could get lopsided.

Re: 2022 Class AA State Tournament

Jungels got away with a couple trips the last few minutes of the game, but Tonka was the better team overall this game and persevered in the end. The officiating was not great in this game at all, not to the benefit of either team. I disagree, Edina looked like the better team tonight, Johnson just...
