According to the MSHSL website: There are no appeals to the placements. There are three ways these could change: A school drops an activity. A new school adds an activity. A cooperative agreement is formed or dissolved. If your school or team is not doing one of the above, you will play in the assig...

Neither BP or Jordan have an official boys hockey pairing. I know that several area associations draw kids from those communities, and most likely, if anyone wants to play hockey from those communities, they open enroll or go to a private school. I would expect BP kids would go to New Prague, Waconi...

It's one game, a hot goalie, a funny bounce of a puck, a phantom call here or there and anything can happen. New Prague has the better team, but they cannot come in overconfident or play careless with the puck. They let Faribault stay in the game way too long on Saturday. If they make some of those ...

Gopherpuck, you hit the nail on the head. None of the top eight teams are upset-proof. I could see a 9-seed (Lourdes?) beating New Prague. But in order to win the section, you have to win three (or four) straight games. I don't think any of the lower seeded teams have shown they can put together tha...

Definitely a strange year in 1A. New Prague, unbeaten in the section, is the definite No. 1, but 2-8 are real tough to pigeonhole. I'm guessing West at No. 2 and Northfield/Faribault/LeSueur somewhere in 3-5 then LaCrescent/Albert Lea/East/Lourdes in 6-9 in some combination after that. To me, No way...

Just want to correct a point someone made about eligibility. They used the Brodeur kid as an example of someone who is ineligible because he doesn't live with his parents. That is incorrect. If I remember correctly, the league does have an exception for boarding schools (Shattuck and St. John's Prep...

No co-op....Armstrong is absorbing Cooper's hockey program. They'll wear Armstrong uni's and have a Cooper patch on the shoulder. Fat cat… that is the definition of a co-op. Two or more schools fielding one team. http://post.mnsun.com/2014/03/armstrong-parents-generally-oppose-co-op-with-cooper-boy...
