Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

Several shots at Blue Army. How is their participation different from Norway in years past? I think I saw a Norway box score this year versus a Fall 18U team in the Minnesota Hockey league. More appropriate competition for them perhaps. Teams guest play in the league. I can see being against guest ...

Re: Top 5 Goaltenders

Went up to Showcase hoping to see Jon Howe in a rotating start tonight for Jamestown against Magicians , but they kept their No. 1 goalie starting again tonite. Lost 2-1 , magicians scored with 4 sec left. Cant make it tomorrow against Kenai, if anyone goes and he starts, please give us an update. ...

Re: Top 5 Goaltenders

Yeah, couldnt help but have questionmark in my mind about Hales future at UMd. Far as I know, both Laylin and Oberle will be back at HS, but until November rolls around nothing is certain anymore. As far as I know - Hale won’t be at UMD or at least he isn’t in their plans. Only have that from a sec...

Re: Top 5 Goaltenders

Sounds like if things go to plan - West will play 66-75% of the games. They don’t care too much about the location and it being a “home” game for a lot of Minnesota kids and their families here to watch them. I’d be shocked if they don’t play Howe at least once though. I figure their starter West pl...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

The fact that they are (going off the posters here) adding stats from non- elite league competition is just another step in the wrong direction for the league as a whole. The talent has seemed to diminish a bit every year over the last few years. It’s more about the sponsor (Map South) wants vs the ...

Re: Top 5 Goaltenders

I'm going to guess that Glockner and Welch will ultimately land somewhere as well, but you are correct that there were some very "interesting" selections last year. There are obviously times when there is more to the story behind the scenes that provides additional explanation, but I stil...

Re: Will Curt Giles ever get his due?

It's interesting to see how many different styles there are of being an effective coach. Giles is as reserved as they come. Randolph isn't particularly vocal on the bench either, but has a comfort level with the media. Both are very intense in their own ways. Lechner, less so, but he does it with h...

Good stuff Karl =D>

The guy doesn't need the spotlight. More importantly - he cares about his players.

Re: Maple Grove departures

To me, losing a couple kids to USHL teams (like DE did this year, which BTW, doesn’t happen very often to them) is one thing & losing 4 players to NTDP (over 4 years) including 2 brothers...is another. Kids from your youth program getting NTDP tryouts and/or invites is a BIG feather in your cap...

Re: Maple Grove departures

And? Regarding the 6 (impact) early departures last 3 years: 4 NTDP kids 1 WHL kid 2 NHL draft picks (Janicke and Haider). The other 4 are eligible in 2020 and ‘21. So far. I’d say it’s working just fine for them. Parents all seem to dislike Bergland. At least the ones I have spoken too. Would the k...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020

There are lots of research showing how a student leaving high school a semester early to participate in spring practice shows more harm than good. Phillip Nelson may be the poster child of this in Minnesota high school football. When you get to hockey most of the “research” comes from USA hockey wh...

I know way too much about this BB and Blaine situation. It's ugly, and full of critical comments from a lot of Blaine parents and players that shouldn't get posted due to the facts that these are all kids. However, I have ZERO idea how it ends up. Blaine's biggest question mark is in goal. This woul...
