Cool
WBL-DE is a toss-up on paper. Winner is an underdog to either EP-L'v S, another even match. Centennial and Rochester will try to pull upsets on the bottom half of the draw but it is pointing to a Wayzata-Edina matchup. Odds against winning: 2:1 Edina 2:1 Wayzata 6:1 Eden Prairie 6:1 Lakeville S 25:1...

UPDATED odds against reaching the State Tournament
With more games in the book it is getting easier to sort some of these teams. SECTION 1 2:1 Mayo 4:1 Lakeville N 4:1 Lakeville S 4:1 Owatonna Disappointing play by North causes me to remove them and install Mayo as the favorite of this wide-open section. SECTION 2 2:3 Edina 4:1 Burnsville 5:1 Jeffer...

Re: Great post Mess
Sounds like you think my 1:2 odds against winning are a little much. Maybe you think more like Even or 3:2. It'll be interesting. With Section Semis that week for HS hockey there won't be too much attention on the Fargo results, but I'll make a point to see who wins up there. If you giving 3:2 I'll...

Problem is Mess, your #2 team lost 9-1 to Edina when they played! That isn't a hot/cold goalie away or one coaching adjustment. That's a big gulf to bridge!

Ok, I'm revoking my short lived, self-imposed gag order on squirt hockey for this topic. :D The best things about this tourney are (in no particular order): 1) the pin trading 2) the grilled burger and brats outside the arena 3) the parent parties and bonding of friendships that last a lifetime 4) ...

Great post Mess
I have been reading most of the post on the Edina Squirt A team, and yes I would say they are the best Squirt A team to date that I have seen. There are some other good teams out there. But I will say this somebody is going to beat this team this year and that team is going to play a great game vs....

Early look at 2008 FARGO SQUIRT Tournament
February 21-24 Who is playing and how likely are they to take down the much discussed Edina team? CANADIAN: Thunder Bay sends two teams, the West End Bruins and the Westfort Rangers. No idea how good these teams are. NORTH DAKOTAN: 10 of the 48 in the field are from the home state. Can their best co...

Re: best
I said it before and I'll say it again since OTOWN in FLorida doesn't read my whole posts.. Jancze, I do read your whole posts. A frequent refrain is that you don't want people talking about them because "they're only Squirts". This most recent post was real good and kept things in the pr...

Edina's Squirts
"This Edina Squirt A team is arguably one of the best Squirt teams ever assembled in Minnesota Squirt history, maybe arguably" Is it the team or the association? There are maybe 4 or 5 kids on the team that really stand out, but there are probably 30 B squirts in the association that coul...

Squirts
Spinner, you're trying but I don't know that you'll get through. Ref and others are the people talking about these Squirts when they get older. You, the original poster, Blonde Girl's Dad, and me are talking about them in the present - as Squirts. The argument seems to go like this: A- Sky's blue! B...

My Prediction is Ness will drop to the late 5th round or 6th by the time the Europeans are included and the GMs get cold feet about his size on draft day. He would have a hard time moving anyone out of the front of the net in the NHL, which is a big part of defense. He may be good in HS but he does...

Boogey, take a look at any Fire roster. Abandoned is probably too strong of a word, but many kids are playing Fire hockey instead of for their hometown.BoogeyMan wrote:

Cowbell - thanks. Seems like a very valid point to discuss. I'm glad you can see it.

Re: Edina Squirts
Clown - I guarantee if these quirts played 1 Pee Wee A team they would come away with injured players and lose......I don't care how good they are, the physical game of Pee Wee A's, B's and C's can be pretty impressive. You have to get close to the net to score. That plus having the size of Pee Wee...

Re: post 9164
Roseau Memorial Arena is probably the toughest to win in over the past few years, maybe ever. Bob, how many times does Roseau face a team as good as them? Is it a tough arena to play in or is it the home of a tough team that plays at the arena? Give me the .500 team that has an awkward venue over t...

My speculation
I've given this a lot of thought and bounced my best guess off a few others. I'll take a stab at it.
Edina's Squirt A team could beat:
Edina's Squirt A team could beat:
- 100% of the state's Pee Wee C teams
35% of the Pee Wee B teams
10% of the Pee Wee A teams

In the mean time, I am still reading and trying to digest. I will print this stuff on or about 10am on 1/17/08 - thursday. I will make copies for about 10 people serving on the steering committee. Re: Too much too soon & Tier 1
This has been discussed in the past, but it might be worth discussing with some facts. Are kids today doing too much too soon? I have read a lot on this subject about the dangers of early specialization and how that can lower the ceiling on a kids potential. But even worse is the burn out factor wh...

WELL DONE
I have seen them play and I think either Edina B1 peewee team would beat them and there may be a couple B2 peewee teams out there that would beat them. They are very small and fast, but they are squirts. There are a couple that could be playing peewee B1 now, but overall they are still a squirt tea...
