Re: Greenway/Hermantown

. . . What a performance by the Raiders, and congratulations on ending one of the great streaks of section dominance in HS hockey to earn their first Class A Tourney berth. I'm not sure how running two lines will hold up over three days in St. Paul, but if anyone can make it work, this team can. Th...

Re: 7AA 2018-2019

Last section final Cloquet made it too was 2008. 11 years now, no section final. 9 out of the 11 years was with Esse as the head coach. Wouldn't of made a difference; East was / is THAT good Comparing this group to past teams makes no sense. This was a group of kids that had a lot of success in Pee...

Re: 7AA 2018-2019

So.... How were the crowds at the 7AA semi finals? Attendance at 1st semi was sad. By the middle of the game, there were more Cloquet fans in the arena than Elks-Huskies fans combined. Cloquet always travels well and easily had the most fans in the building. I think that East being on winter break ...

. . . With Luedtke, Doctor, and Koster out of the Trny, is Kaiser the best, or maybe second best, single Dman left in the remaining field?
Yeah, he ranks right up there with Paine

Re: 7AA 2018-2019

This was a disaster season for C-E-C the best talent they had in a long time 3 classes deep not making it to state was a disaster let alone not making the final, having 3 coaches in 3 years did not help but this year and last year I thought was C-E-C best shot in a long time to go to St. Paul they ...

Re: Duluth East at Andover, Section 7AA Final

. . . Donovan needs to maintain the possession like he did today. He did a great job of holding on to the puck when under pressure, although I wish he skated as fast as he can more often. Saw it maybe once or twice today. Open up the jets buddy . . . IMO Donovan was the best player on the ice in ei...

Re: 7AA 2018-2019

. . . I’m going to be curious to see what kind of forecheck East will run, and will that be adjusted vs Andover provided they advance past their rivals? I think that East is somewhat of a mystery team right now. Thanks to Karl and others for providing us insight into what they've done in the games ...

What up with the Hounds?

Regarding Duluth East. They are closing in on 'Team Turmoil' status. I've seen posts on other threads stating folks have had the Hounds overrated all season. Really??? They came into the season with their top 3 centers all returning, a top 5 player in Donovan, a top 5 Dman in Paine, plenty of size a...

Re: AA Rankings for 1/6/19

. . . 5. Duluth East (8-3-1) -The Hounds continue to be hit-or-miss offensively, as they flashed their potential against Stillwater but got smothered by Minnetonka. They can match the forward depth of the top two teams, who have accounted for two of their three losses, but the defense has its wobbl...

Re: Games Friday 11/30/18

Duluth East 6, White Bear Lake 3, Final (2 EN) White Bear roared out to a 3-0 lead in the first four minutes of the game, then the Hounds got their legs under them, tied it up by the end of the 1st, and went up for good in the 3rd. Lots of early season tinkering and both teams had players out. East...

. . . If you haven't watched much East this year, this was not their normal style at all. And while one could certainly point toward any number of bounces and chances that went one way or the other, it is no easy thing to get a high school team to play such divergent styles so well, and be able to ...

Personally, I think the more interesting story from the 1998 Class A tournament, was the run to the championship by goaltender Pete Samargia and Eveleth, which (aside from a - yawn - Tier II title in 1993) essentially had done nothing at the state tournament since the 1950s.

Exactly, it is ridiculous to have metro teams in 7 and 8 and have to travel. I really do wish there were enough AA teams in 218 to fill both sections, at least right now there is not. When we get to the point there is a chance for all metro state, weren't we about 1 1/2 minutes away from that last ...

Lots of funky bounces in the game that seemed to bounce Andover's way a few more times than East's way. Or the puck bounced just out of an East player's reach especially in the Andover end. It was not looking good for East as Andover's top line had many odd man rushes pretty much the whole game. Cre...
