Re: Section 7A 23-24
Great game between CEC and Hibbing. After an even 1-1 first, the Jacks took over completely and went up 4-1 after two. Hibbing punched back though, and got it to 4-3, but CEC completely shut down Hibbing when they had an extra attacker at the end. Hibbing needs their goaltending and pp to improve if...

BHS- Final Score Grand Rapids 5 #11 A Hibbing 2 Final - Not surprising result as Hibbing looked like a young team and GR took it to them early building 4-0 lead - Soph line for Hibbing of Swanson, Hildenbrand & Elsner looked solid - Give Hibbing time to develop they will be tough in time I thou...

Re: R.I.P. Adam Johnson
Seeing Adam play in HS rekindled my love for HS hockey. He was a fantastic player and you knew you might see something special every time he took the ice. It was great to see him realize his dream of playing in the NHL. Adam single-handedly almost beat Hermantown at the 2011 tourney. It was an epic ...

Re: 2023-24 Preseason A Rankings
Hibbing is too low. :P Great work, as always! You're lucky to have just a few players we're waiting on to find out definitively if they're back or not in Class A. Lots of the prep work for AA is done, but I can't in good faith post anything for about 2 more weeks. Nice stuff, Class A Guy, and I thi...

Re: The Rise of the North in Coming Years?
I think you give Hibbing a year or two to get bigger and stronger (hard to play against guys three years older than you are) and they're going to have a couple year run near the top for A. Like any smaller program (in the city or out-state) they will need to hold all of the players for the full run...

Re: 2023-2024 New Section Alignment?
If those numbers are used, that would put Rock Ridge in AA anyway, if my math is correct. Edit: Looks like RR at 1181, so they would still be opting up to AA
Side note, it seems Proctor/Hermantown girls would be AA also.
Bemidji would no longer be an opt up.

Re: 23 state tournament winners
I love that Class A was won, yet again, by a team that plays AA all through youth. And the third place game was between two groups of players that all played AA at youth. And the consolation final was between two teams whose players play AA at youth. And with EGF now AA at youth, this trend is sure ...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
You should Actually be proud that a northern team can compete with the southern powerhouse teams. Your anti-north hockey? Proud that a northern team that went 3-0 vs AA tourney teams and 13-1-1 overall vs AA teams is playing in the A tourney? What is there to be proud of about that? It's embarrassi...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
Absolutely. Orono's youth teams have been so bad the last few years that they had to go back down to A, and even at A most of their teams have had terrible seasons. Meanwhile, Hibbing's been excellent. I'd put my money on Hibbing, but you never know.

Re: The Hermantown Thread
You just don't get that Hermantown develops its players and its the hockey program that attracts players to its program. Is that not what every community strives for? Wrong. Hermantown doesn't develop talent, they collect it. Over half of the talent that comes out of Hermantown were known to be goo...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
Rain man how you can trash Hermantown and let Mahtomedi , Orono and Warroad go is classic. Mahtomedi is 1 student away from being a AA school and Warroad is bought by Marvin Windows. Orono is the wealthiest school district in MN. The state is much bigger that your small view from Hibbing. Hermantow...

It appears to me that all the pre-tournament hype surrounding Warroad and consternation concerning Hermantown playing in Class A was completely misplaced. Warroad the best team in the state regardless of class?? Uh, no. From what I've seen from the AA teams, the Warriors would have some difficulty ...

They looked dominant at times this year but things started to look wobbly in sections with some closer than expected victories. Was it ...

I believe the Hawks were 3-0 vs teams in the AA tourney this year, so maybe AA would have been an easier path.headsupsticksdown wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 1:18 pm They didn’t win so they’re clearly in the right class eh? That’s how it’ll go I assume…

I am worried about the futures of these two programs. Sounded like several seniors in the starting lineups. How will they ever make it back next year? Mahtomedi was hit very hard by Hill Murray in the younger grades actually. Curious to see how that will play out for them in the coming years....

At the end of the day he is diluting local talent and will be grabbing from others. Tell me with a straight face how that is a good thing and how you are making things better? He won't be diluting talent. He'll just be shifting talent from Hermantown to Stella. No net loss of talent whatsoever. And...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
Scott Pionk has done some very good things for the local hockey community. We can all agree to that. But why for some of you is it ok for him to poach from other programs while Hermantown is so very wrong for doing the same thing. Albeit to a less extent. You cannot have it both ways. Poaching is p...
