I just read through this whole thread and coming from a person with no horse in the race I can say it gets a little bit irritating how many class A hockey fans whine every time a program has success. Does Hermantown have more resources than many other class A schools? Yes and obviously that is a la...

CEC played Proctor in Cloquet this year. I was actually embarrassed watching the game. Feeling bad for Proctor, and that we shouldn’t schedule them anymore, especially for the next 3-4 years when CEC is way up in skill. We get to the section playoffs every year and face a gauntlet in the section ev...

I wonder if 7AA's reliance on QRF will force H-town's hand regarding the A versus AA debate. My impression is that 7AA teams don't gain anything by playing A teams - it even sounds like it could hurt them. So, why would 7AA teams continue to schedule H-town. For example, GR played two games against...

Re: Seeding 2/12/18

1. Hermantown 2. Greenway 3. Virginia 4. Duluth Denfeld -strong finish, close with Eveleth. Play a strong schedule. 5. Eveleth - Have Denfeld and North shore to close out. 6. Hibbing -a little drop- tough finish with Virginia and Greenway. 7. I- Falls - cannot shake a weaker schedule overall 8. Nor...

Re: Greenway Raider... 7A at this point

Northernlakes wrote:Who moves in the seeding? Only a couple games before they draw it up.
4-7 should be ready to confirm.........
Hibbing is 1-3 vs I-Falls, Denfeld, and E-G, so they will likely be 7th, setting up a QF game at Greenway. Yikes!

Re: Updated 7A seeding........

Northernlakes wrote:GRENWAY RAIDER.......... GREAT POST.

Can we get a update on 7A with 2 weeks to go.......
Off the top of my head:

1. Herm
2. Green
3. Virg
4. Falls
5. Denfeld
6. E-G
7. Hibbing
8. North Shore
9. Proctor
10. Ely

I think 1-3 and 8-10 are locks, 4-7 is still a toss-up.

I don't think Virginia really has a shot at getting the 2 seed. I think at the seeding meeting, coaches will factor in Troumbly missing that last game and Lawson being no where near 100%. It was essentially an even game WITHOUT those two being a factor. 4-7 is a toss up. All four of those teams are...

As has been said the top three teams are pretty much decided with Hermantown, Greenway and Virginia. Virginia still has an outside chance to get the #2 seed but a lot has to break their way. 1. Hermantown: 10-5-2 overall and 3-0 in the Section with games left against Virginia and Eveleth-Gilbert. 2...

Yes, unfortunately they have. I can’t remember when the last time they had a JV squad. 13-14 maybe?
Their pee wee and bantam A squads are solid, but it remains to be seen how much of that talent ends up at Denfeld in HS.

Lawson did not have a goal. Lawson has the flu and probably shouldn’t of been playing. Was close enough to his parents to find out he was pumping fluids with a iv bag between periods. Rajala had the goal. Thanks for the correction. On the Mesabi TV broadcast, I thought the announcer said Lawson. Ye...

A win by Virginia over Greenway will have no impact on seedings. Virginia has lost to Proctor and Hibbing and have a tie with the Falls. The only scenario where the #2 seed might be questionable is if Virginia beats Hermantown and Greenway loses its other remaining section games against the Falls a...

Re: AA Rankings for 1/21/18

St. Michael-Albertville (11-4) -The Knights had a quality week, with a valuable section win over St. Cloud and a win at Hermantown; even though the Hawks are down some (and this underscores how far the top Class A teams are behind the elite in AA this season ), that’s a solid result. They could loc...

I believe they were referring to Bemidji. Hermantown doesn't have a hospital, which is weird, given how many doctors live there. I wonder where they all work? :D

I agree 100%. Of course they should still strive to improve, as should every program and individual. It is my goal to snuff out any lingering belief that Hermantown is "small town hockey". I think people should be fully aware that they are a wealthy suburban program that has very little in common w...

Re: Trip to Eveleth, Hibbing and Grand Rapids

I am making a trip north from the Twin Cities next weekend. Plan to go to the USA Hockey Hall of Fame in Eveleth and see Warroad at Hibbing on Friday night, then Hill-Murray at Grand Rapids on Saturday afternoon. I've never been to either of the historic arenas in Hibbing and GR. Haven't been to th...
