Wonder if Galatz will go back to graduate with his old buddies? Saw him with the Allison kid last weekend in H-town?.
That would awesome. Galatz-Allison-Lund would be a very potent line, and Hibbing could push Denfeld for the #2 spot in 7A next year.

Come on home, kid! :D

Re: 7A - Thoughts

Hibbing upsets E-G 5-4 in OT.

Wonder if this opens up #3 spot for Greenway, allowing them to avoid the Evil Empire in the semis, at least? Denfeld-Greenway semi could be a very entertaining game.

Re: People wanting to stay A... about single A teams recruiting

Except for this year, when an exceptionally talented player did. This could very well start a trend, or not. And do all the EGF parents work in EGF only? Is the town economically isolated from 70k person GF? Couldn't a sizable chunk of the hockey crazed parents that work in GF just live in EGF to b...

Re: People wanting to stay A... about single A teams recruiting

I would say that being a class A team near a "metro" area has some distinct advantages that go beyond player movement. Areas like Duluth, Fargo-Moorhead, Grand Forks-EGF, etc. are hockey hubs. Players have access to development that "satellite" programs can't match. I will use EGF as an example. Th...

Re: People wanting to stay A... about single A teams recruiting

You guys can talk as long as you want about EGF having access to a metro area and how kids could come over from Grand Forks. The reality is they don’t. Move along. There’s nothing to see here. Except for this year, when an exceptionally talented player did. This could very well start a trend, or no...

Re: People wanting to stay A... about single A teams recruiting

EGF is not exactly a fair comparison. For a player to transfer from ND the family must follow transfer rules, in Panzers case the family moved physically to EGF. How often do you think that's going to happen? It was my understanding the Panzer relocated not because you was unhappy with Grand Forks ...

Re: A teams playing AA at youth levels

To flip this...... Rochester, a city of over 110,000, fields 6 bantam teams and won’t play AA in youth. Youth hockey hub has the bantam A team rated #1 in the state, how does Minnesota Hockey allow this. This is sandbagging on a scale pretty much unheard of. These kids get split into the 4 high sch...

Re: A teams playing AA at youth levels

I bet I can take a good guess: (top 10 rankings) Hermantown - move em up... duh Cathedral - move em up... duh pt2 Warroad - they are too good, move em up Orono - city team, move em up EGF - across the river from a big city , move em up Mahtomedi - City team, move em up Denfield - in a big city, mov...

Re: A teams playing AA at youth levels

A metro schools designated as "Class A" by enrollment standards don't have the same access to bodies as those in AA just because of their proximity open enrollment or not. And Class A schools outside the metro can recruit with the best of them including Hermantown. This is a really piss-poor justif...

Re: A teams playing AA at youth levels

Doesn't matter that Warroad might be good for a few years here, my point is that even a program as good as they are can have long droughts of success when they don't have a metro area to draw from. It's a fact. Misleading stats? Only 11 of those 33 big city A title game participants are now in AA. ...

Re: A teams playing AA at youth levels

For the bad that Warroad had the last decade they are going to make up for this decade. Again do a little research. Warroad is going to be pretty loaded for some time. Keep asking me the same question, it seems to be working well. My plan is keep it the same. Do you have memory loss? Oh and keep qu...

Re: A teams playing AA at youth levels

Ever heard of Warroad? Or are they too close to the metro area Baudette? Yeah you poor thing. Some kid out there should feel your wrath for all the pain and suffering you have taken over the years! Not sure what you are trying to get at with your last point. My thought is by and large the system wo...

Re: A teams playing AA at youth levels

Equitable in who’s eyes? Do the above listed teams think your idea is equitable? Many of those schools are a small fraction of the big AA schools you are telling them they now have to compete with. You go tell EGF (who is apparently a “city” school) that they are basically the equivalent of EP and ...

Re: A teams playing AA at youth levels

Idk what kind of math you did here, but I wouldn’t consider Warroad (4), EGF (2), Greenway, Red Wing, Monticello, or Alex to be from metro areas. I counted EGF and Monticello as metro teams, so combining the remaining teams gives 7 title game appearances to non-metro teams. (40 total-7 non-metro=33...

Re: A teams playing AA at youth levels

I guess I missed that seeing as it has no logic (which you should try). Every “city” team does not have the same resources, making this a totally discriminatory rule. So just to put this into perspective if Warroad wins the title this year they could stay class A but if Orono wins they have to move...

Re: A teams playing AA at youth levels

I'm moving this over from the A ranking post also Three observations: 1)). Nate Werner played his youth hockey in St Cloud so he did play AA in youth...just since that came up. I believe most of the SCC kids did but don’t have the data. Just remember the history. 2). Some kind of relegation system ...

Re: A teams playing AA at youth levels

Or how about this scenario. Greenway finishes off their magical run last year and wins state. How long are they pushed to AA? Do players like Troumbly and Miller even stick around? How to the underclassmen parents feel about that? Go back and read my post about my idea. I said that any city teams w...

Re: A teams playing AA at youth levels

Almost too many holes in your plan to speak to but a few right off the bat. 1. No chance to defend your title? Seriously? 2. Who gets to decide who can opt down and who can't? And based on what criteria? If they are good? So say Duluth Denfeld, they are in a metro area but they are going to be pret...

A teams playing AA at youth levels

My point was that class A is functioning as it is designed to. It was designed with enrollment as the parameters. Not resources. I’m not worried about that under the current system. I’m worried what it would look like under your system. What is your ideal system anyway? Somehow I have the feeling i...
