PageStat's section summaries look reasonably accurate to me. It is too bad some sections are not competitive in that only a single school is mentioned (e.g., Hermantown in 7A). Even though we know that Hermantown will win the A tourney, I would rather watch a competitive section (3A) where any of se...

Teak, heading to Luverne Thursday? Could be a good one. Nope, not traveling anywhere for a while. Marshall has improved, but they were shut out by Luverne in Marshall again this season so I can't see an offensive breakout from the Tigers happening down in the Blue Mound arena. I hope that I am wrong.

Hutchinson is the big unknown since they don't like to play other 3A schools. Quit whining just because they won't play your beloved Cardinals. Your anger issues should probably be dealt with off site. Which Cardinals would that be: Fairmont, Redwood Valley, or Willmar? And this thread is en...

Marshall's frosh defenseman Kaleb Welvaert has 6 goals and 16 assists in 22 games, which puts him third on the team in scoring.

That would be the real Marshall high school, not Rochester John Marshall and certainly not The Marshall School of Duluth.

Wow, where'd time go? Marshall coming on strong late in the season. Back to back away wins over Litchfield/Dassal-Cokato (1-0) and Le Sueur et. al (8-2) makes them one of the favorites now in Section 3A. This squad had the potential and now they are starting to show it. Luverne beat New Ulm in New U...

Not a single 3A school in the top 25! Good job, elliot, I knew that I could count on you!! I only went to 16. Hard to argue Luverne is in the top 16. No, I was referring to your top 25 at the top of this thread. No 3A schools in that group of 25. Not sure which 16 you are referring to. I am n...

Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato beat Hutchinson 4-2 in Litchfield yesterday. Marshall still has to play Litchfield this season, but won't see Hutchinson unless it is in the section playoffs. Maybe Hutchinson should move to 2A since they rarely play Big South schools, which makes up the bulk of 3A. I still ...

Marshall beat New Ulm 3-1 tonight in Marshall. Pretty even game up to the end, shots were 36-29 in favor of Marshall. Both goalies looked good, Nelson for the Tigers and #1 (don't know name) for New Ulm. New Ulm's goalie stopped 3 breakaways after giving up a goal on the first one. Marshall's top li...

Marshall's coach kept it classy in the third period and obviously gave some of his younger kids some ice time, which we appreciated due to the most productive kids on our team right now being sophomores. Looking for continued improvement and a full roster next season, hopefully. Yeah, I noticed dur...

I got to see Marshall beat Worthington 12-1 last night. Good to see that Worthington had two complete lines (10 skaters) so that no one other than the goalie had to play the entire game. I was pulling for them to score a goal and they did in the final minute on a 2-on-1 breakaway. This frosh defense...

Here are my three picks for winning A, not counting the actual winner. 1. Hermantown 2. Hermantown 3. Hermantown Yes, for sure... but as a reminder, lots of people were also really sure who would win the last presidential election. Are you saying that Hermantown is the Hillary of the Minnesota high...

Marshall beat Willmar 4-0 last night in the new Red Baron arena. It wasn't too long ago I was used to seeing the reverse results. Not sure if that means Marshall is getting better or if Willmar is down from what they used to be. I spent a couple of years working in Willmar and watched them quite oft...

Not a good week for Marshall last week. Two losses and a single win in the Schwan Cup Open Division. Beat Simley 3-2 (where is that?) Lost to Chaska 6-0 and Spring Lake Park 5-2. Would probably beat those three schools in most sports, but not ice hockey. Okay, Simley is in Inver Grove Heights, a wa...

Kaleb Welvaert is a starting defenseman for the Marshall (3A) Tigers. He scored a hattrick (1a) on Thursday in their 18-1 win over Fairmont. For the season he now has 4g and 5a in 9 games.

But, wait; Marshall is in 3A, so you know ... haha ... it doesn't count.

Got home late from work (travelling) and logged on to youtube (Marsh Sports Live) to watch Marshall-Fairmont game Thursday night. There were Marshall JVs playing and the score was 17-1. I figured it was the JV game, which ended 18-1. The next game was the girls' game and I realized that the varsity ...

Re: New Marshall Arena

One part of hockey I really enjoy is seeing all the different arenas. WCCO did a feature on the new arena in Marshall for their Best of Minnesota series. Gotta say I might drive over there in late February just to see it. Only thing I don't like is the wall behind the benches with no seating. Kind ...

I don't see how you can rank Hermantown as anything but #1. They will walk through their single A schedule like a combine and enter the state tournament. At the state tourney, they will be #1 seed and draw either the 3A or 1A school in the first round. After that rout, they will advance to the semi-...
