Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

Ding, ding, ding....there will be people/organizations who are gonna capitalize and make a lot of $ if they shut MNHS hockey down. I agree there are organizations that would want to do this. But I would be willing to bet that if there is no MSHSL hockey season this year, similarly, arenas will not ...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

Those 130,000 are people that had COVID-19 at their time of death. That is not the same as saying 130,000 people died of COVID-19. The death numbers have been skewed since day one. Seriously? No offense but this has to be one of the dumbest things I've read about this. So you're saying that's it's ...

Re: Summer Scrimnages

It is fairly vague but I interpret it that hockey games can be played between different teams in your "local community" starting July 15th. "Local community" is certainly up for interpretation... can EP play Edina? Can Minnetonka play Stillwater? I think so in both of those cases as I think the inte...

Recruits? Why all the ire at Eden Prairie only when top programs routinely attract players? Edina, Burnsville, Jefferson, etc.... Wayzata added Clayton Keller's brother and you're upset with Eden Prairie for having kids from Eden Prairie that you don't think should be there? GMAB Not your call. I t...

elliott - 98 goals in the AA final might be a bit too high. Might want to rethink that one #-o
Also looks like he copied my all tourney teams and didn't change any of them...? I'm flattered that he thinks I'm right but guessing he missed that?

Re: Moorhead with the state tourney hat trick

According to the brackets, doesn't Moorhead play Duluth East at 4:00 today to advance to Bantam AA state? Not trying to poop on your thread, it is an amazing accomplishment for a city/association to have teams in all three state tourneys.

Re: 2020 Section Tournament Scores Thread

Blake was very fortunate not to get called for a blatant checking from behind penalty just before they got the penalty shot opportunity From my vantage point the Benilde player turned at the last moment to avoid the check. He didn't avoid the check, and hence it was on the numbers. It definitely di...

Re: 6AA/2AA Section Final Coverage

One more thing on this - do the rules say that they have to reset the game clock back to the time of the goal? Did they reset it? My dad and I were talking and weren’t sure whether or not they did. They did back the clock up about a minute or so. I'm not sure what the actual rule is but if it's lik...

Re: 6AA/2AA Section Final Coverage

The goal light did come on after the goal/non-goal. I didn’t think it was a goal, it clanked loudly making me think it hit crossbar. But I thought it was strange they didn’t call it a goal when the goal light came on, maybe the refs didn’t notice it initially. After play stopped a linesman asked the...

Re: Play-offs Wednesday 2/26/2020

Definitely a legit call. The refs put their whistles away for the last half of the game until that point. Miller made a great stretch pass to Best, BSM D lost his stick trying to defend it so he tackled Best as he drove for the net. Very obvious penalty shot.

Not sure why the crying about Breck. Look at Warroad who makes it every yr. 2yrs ago they recruited a goalie at Christmas to make it out of sections. That yr and every yr their roster is filled with new names from across Canada and Minnesota. They had a goalie lined up to move in this yr but that f...

I'm surprised to not see Lakeville South, they lose only 2 seniors. Granted one is the goalie that played 90% of the time but they return all but their 3rd leading scorer.

Re: 2020 Section Tournament Scores Thread

For Prior Lake the next two years are probably their years. They will have their chance. I feel like we've been thinking that for the last few years. The group that won PeeWee state title a few years ago has come and gone, and while I don't think they won any other titles, they've had strong showin...

Re: Breck

If I can decipher all of the sarcasm in this thread, it appears there actually seems to be some defending Breck in here. Here is what Breck did in the last two weeks of the section playoffs and state tournament: 6-0 Goals for: 49 (8.2/game) Goals against: 5 (0.8/game) Shots for: 248 (41.3/game) * Sh...

Re: State Tournament Seeding

There are certainly some tweaks the MSHSL could make for girls hockey but section placement is a red herring. As I said, their motivation should be to do the right thing. Is there a girls HS hockey fan out there right now actually impressed with Breck on their way to a 3rd straight class A title? I'...

Combination of Farmington playing without their best player and Andover just being a better team. This was a mismatch on paper heading into the game, the result is about as expected.

Re: State Tournament Seeding

Or, if you want to let private schools play class A hockey, then those schools cannot play class AA teams during the regular season unless it's a conference game or in a holiday tournament. I agree this is the most logical way of handling it. I don't like the idea of forcing all privates to AA or t...

I hope Breck is proud of themselves tonight. What a disgrace. What can the players do in their situation? Their players are amazing. So talented and fun to watch. Not the players fault. Re: One Change to the Playoffs/State Tournament

Football has a rule change proposal that would mandate scheduling every team in your section to make seeding schools for playoffs a more straight forward endeavor. Mankato West, for example, can only play New Prague in their section during the regular season. Hockey could do the same, have every sc...

Re: One Change to the Playoffs/State Tournament

I like the idea! But as you pointed out, this makes seeding HUGE! I think you would need to move to a more uniform seeding method (QRF or something similar) just so you dont have coaches bias play a factor in the seeding process. I don't know exactly how the seeding process works. Maybe each sectio...
