Too soon to tell

Interesting speculation on how the 7AA seedings may fall, as if it really matters in early January. Upcoming 7AA contests over the next couple of weeks will likely set things in place. It's good to see more teams involved in the race, however until East is knocked off their throne they're still my d...

Point Well Made

Northlander, your comments on the AHA game are accurate. I agree that East matched lines better in periods 2 & 3. That was obvious. However I didn't notice any tactical changes from the East bench and that's what I was commenting on.
I'm sure Randolph and company are coaching for this year's ...

What Adjustments

GR19 stated a while back, "Randolph, the great mind that he is, made adjustments" Could you be so bold as to tell us what adjustments he made? What "Brook's" like changes did he make? My guess is that after the first period my told his team to take some pride in caring for the pu...

Hounds Vs Spuds

Nice win for the Hounds. Ben Lies played very well and has the ability to give his team a chance to win every night. Hounds have a well executed powerplay, scoring a couple of really pretty goals.
#11 for the Spuds is one of the best prep stickhandlers I've seen in a long time. Spud's #7 and #15 ...

East Versus Cloquet

I'll go with East on this one and I don't think I'd be going too far out on a limb. If your comparison is based on what happened with WBL, here are some thoughts on this. I believe WBL was still reeling from their lose to Hill-Murray. I wtached that game on FSN and to be honest, I wasn't overly impr...

Open Enrollment Roller Coaster

I can't believe I'm jumping into this fray considering it's only July. Eddie Shore's got it pretty much right on the Finnegan/Suihkonen saga from the 90's. Here's a couple of other lesser known facts. The Suihkonen boys lived in an apartment in Duluth pretty much on their own for a chunk of their ti...

Hounds versus Spuds

I'll get it started. I know they're underdogs but I like the Hounds over the Spuds. Chris Sall is doing what a goalie needs to do, . . . giving his team a chance to win. Up front the Hounds are scoring "opportunistic goals".
Moorhead is man for man better than East, but the Hounds seem ...

Hollywood Plays It Up Again

I watched ESPN's replay of the '80 Olympic game versus USSR. I also watched Disney's "Miracle" that was released last year, as I'm sure many of you did. I'm also old enough to remember the game live. What caught me by surprise in last night's re-broadcast on ESPN, with 5:36 left in the thi...

Why Do You Care Then?

Puckhead,

You say that you won't be crying a river because you're not affiliated with the program, and consequently you don't care. This bodes the question then as to why you made the original post at all. If you're not from the area, then your statements are probably based on the always reli...

Mars vs East

What I heard was that the Duluth East Bantam "A" team will not be allowed to rent ice at Mars Lakeview. The reason, Bantam coach Steve Pitoscia was rather outspoken and pubically rude to Bob Mars at the school board meetings. It is my understanding that they were a significant tennant of t...

AAA ?

Here we go. More talk about a "AAA" Midget team spawning out of Duluth East. This pops up every year as sure as the fogs going to roll in from Lake Superior. Who are they going to play? Nearest competitive "AAA" Midget teams are Shattuck-St. Mary's, Marquette Electricians, and th...

Coach Randolph

I had not heard that his teaching job was ever in question, in fact the opposite has always been reported. The developments of the last four weeks were interesting to say the least. It seems that like in all great problems, it boils down to a lack of communication. I think there were issues with Coa...

How About Those Wreaths

Actually, what I found to be interesting about today's article on East hockey fundraising was the disparity given between what was made on this year's wreath sale and the figure reported in Saturday's radio program. It was reported that $16,000 was made in the Duluth News Tribune article and $9,000 ...

More than just one

I read txhockey's post, and let me just say while his brother's experience was tragic, but true, it was also one of many, many examples of this. A lot of people commenting on this situation believe that the grudge is being played out by those who were cut, or by their parents. What people don't unde...

Keep it in perspective

There have been 600 jobs lost in Duluth since last December with little publicity nor solutions to the problem. Meanwhile, a hockey coach looses his coaching job and it dominates the media for three straight days. This kind of tells me what the general problem, the game no longer belongs to the kids...
