Elliott,

Who was the force behind changing the AA region format that everyone liked so well? Not sure why you would try to fix something that isn't broke. The new format does not make a whole lot of sense.

Thanks

Sorry to rain on this parade but neither Dan Carlson or Dylan Malmquist are the all time leading scorers at Edina High School. That honor belongs to Larry Johnson who has right around 225 points from 1953- 1956, with a single season record of 87, 51 goals and 36 assists in 1956. Keep in mind they o...

Both Zuhlsdorf and Bellows are staying in the USHL.

The Don would be smart to lock up a couple more of those kids. All they do is win championships.

Hug your youth trophies closely Along with the 11 High school trophies, 2 in the last 4 years. So should Edina feel bad for winning, or should they just dumb down the program so your team can compete? But your right, the number of NHL players an association puts out should be the beanchmark. Your s...

When will Edina start to put out some top end players? What is missing there? Does being cake fed affect them? LITTLE Moorhead had six or seven in the pro ranks a year or two ago.... Not sure that Edina could have claimed to develop one? When will we see a Backes type from Ediner? Seems like there'...

My feeling on this is you can keep the A tourney the same as it has been, with statewide representation and everything equal. The AA tourney should be seeded so that the top teams are spread out in the regions. If one district has 4 of the top 5 teams in the state, they should not all be in the same...

The 12 are coming from associations all over the place to one association (couple here, couple there). This makes no sense to me at all. 12 players coming into a strong association because they want to play AA? If the association is strong, and planning on playing AA, there aren't 12 spots to earn ...

Bo, my guess is that your example will not happen. I would think that Edina and other associations that field both AA and A teams will put the A teams in tournaments that will not have the top AA teams, but yes it could happen. Also, D6 AA teams can play D6 A teams in a scrimmage, they just wont pla...

Just want to set the record straight and give you people the facts. D6 is not preventing any AA team from playing any A team in the district. They are setting up district play so the the AA teams play the other AA teams and the A teams play the A teams. This is so teams will play teams of equal abil...

Edge, I believe the 800 is not just squirts, pee wees and bantams. You need to include Jr. gold, U16 on the boys side and U10, U12, U14 and U19 on the girls side.

The elite 32 will be the same if they are A or AA, and lets be honest, it is really 10 to 15, not 32. So why wouldn't those same people look at moving to the top associations if everyone stays at 1 level. Your saying they will only leave if it goes A/AA? Doesn't make sense to me.

Bo,

What is it that you want to have happen. You rip on everyone's ideas, but I still don't know what it is that you want MN hockey to do.

Can you please lay out your master plan for all of us?

Bo, The AA teams that don't make the playoffs will not be able to drop down and play in the A tournament. Like the A teams that don't qualify, they will be done. I am not sure why you are so against this new format. It sounds like you come from a association that will form an A team, not a AA team. ...

My understanding is that each district can decide how the AA and A teams play in the regular season. In playoffs they will separate and run their own playoff format with 1 team getting an automatic bid to regions. The rest of the teams will be seeded by a ranking system similar to the one that myhoc...

OG, Forest Lake still has a chance if they win there district tournament. If they don't and are not a top 32 team they really don't deserve to make it to regions in AA. This should not be a feel good, everyone gets a medal tourney, it should be for the best teams that have proved themselves all year.

The proposed AA playoff format that was discussed at the MN Hockey spring meeting was as follows. Each district that has at least 2 AA teams would be guaranteed 1 team to the 32 team regions. That would give about 10 teams an automatic region birth, much like the NCAA conference b-ball tourneys. The...
