Let me try to clear up credibility here. First the source. I know both players and parents from the team both Meyer and Westphal played on two years ago. Players, parents, and coaches all say the same thing about Meyer....talented but extremely selfish. Nobody has hard feelings about him playing ou...

Fred61 The Wisconsin Fire (U12) won the Wisconsin Tier 1 tourney in early March to go to nationals. They had to beat two teams to get there. I will bet you there was more fan interest in the D2 finals I attended, then in any of the three Tier 1 tourneys played in Wisconsin. correction; this advanced...

Re: I like most of your ideas
1) add tier 1 hockey - minor and major on a limited trial bases. if the sky falls get rid of it. 2) start checking at squirts 3) loose fair play 4) I like my helmet 5) touch up at peewee -A and all bantams I don't think this would fly; because it's a USA hockey rule ? 6) 16-17 min stop time- peewee...

Allow checking at the squirt level. That way, by the time they are pee wees, they'll know how to accept and deliver a check. In Canada, bodychecking at the squirt level has been a big issue the past few years. Hockey Canada ruled, last November, that bodychecking shouldn't start til age 11. I think...

the main point on mm i was making is it overdevelops at a young age. it will make an awesome squirt and peewee. you can only take it so far the product in the end will still be decided by genetics, heart, and sheer will. what it does is help build a solid foundation, without that- genetics, heart and...

Clown-around-town- I would think that every association will go through the tryout process and grade each player. Not sure why they would treat any players different than others. Isn't the goal of each association to develop the players and create strong teams? I hope you're not implying that certa...

OT64 In response to the AV/Fire game: All coaches shorten the bench. I saw AV do that in the EP game (4-4 tie) - #24 and a couple others were out most of the game - without a doubt the bench was shortened. Every good team puts out thier best guys when they need a goal or on a power play/penalty kil...

what really gets me is my kid is on the b honoroll. why does the next kid get A's on his report card? its just not fair. all the kids should get A's just because another kid is smarter or hits the books harder than my kid shouldnt mean he gets better grades. exacly my point; an earned spot on the b...

playing a short bench on a consistant bases throughout the season shows a lack in a coaches ability to develop his players and team. this is the fastest way to drive a negative wedge into the team as a whole. I certainly understand there are times to go with the players that are producing; or sittin...

A question, What is the cost for Compuware or HoneyBaked teams or the other teams that compete at this level. When a friends son was playing in the Tier1 National tournament for bantams in 1995 in Chicago, some parents of other teams were telling him the cost to play was about $15,000 not counting t...

I don't think minnesota hockey would have to change anything; except allow a certain number of clubs to form. see how that goes before making any final judments. the clubs and partisapants would take all the risk up front. Shattuck hasn't destroyed MN hockey, why would this? Go start your own. You ...

Hockey can bring out the best and worst in people. Hope those that chose the Fire enjoy their long drives. See if you can find a portable desk so your kid can do his homework to and from the rink. Enjoy the extra travel. Also know that most associations don't want Fire teams at their tournaments. T...
