Was it next years' seniors or juniors that won the bantam A state championship a few years back?

Hornets - AHA
You mean like how the Stars won a state title in 2002 then lost the likes of Hagemo Howells and Kronick and still came back the next year to state to take 3rd place (the year they sat Frazee on the bench to start the Anoka game in the state semi-finals and gave up a quick 2-0 lead before losing 2-1)...

I like your rankings with the exception of Hastings. They wont be a top 20 team next year, they lost stewart and will probably have 6 or 7 sophs playing, but look out the year after that.

Holy Angels has to be #1 on anyones list who is serious about these rankings.

EdinaHornets9, I lo...

Agreed
Alex is an unbelievable athlete between the pipes. If he went to UMD next year I think he would be the starter by mid-season, but he'll have to wait another year.

What about Ben Clymer? (U of M, Tampa Bay Lightning). I thought he was a sophomore or junior on that 93 team. What year did he graduate?

Thanks for the info on the rest of 2AA.

True Tartan will be down this year, I thought they were a top 6 or 7 team in the state last year, and they lose a ton of leadership and talent, not to mention 8-10 very tough kids that played a great physical game.

In my opinion, Tartan's fate w...

Keep in mind Hastings is losing Stewart, and while they had a very good bantam team last year, those guys are only sophomores and freshman now. Cretin and Tartan have to be considered 1-2 coming into the season.

I'm not sure what Johnson, Woodbury, or Park C-G have coming up, but they will ne...

Tartan
As one of the biggest defenders and supporters of Tartan's team last year, I can say that they simply lose to much to get back to state. Those seniors on Tartan's team were very underrated.

Wood will be an all-state goalie for the next 2 years (assuming he doesnt leave HS), but they lack expi...

Good to see Cary Wood made the team. I thought he and his Tartan team were underrated all of last year. I'm a little suprised to see him make it, but happy to see none the less.

Does anyone know what he (Simley Goaltender, 2003) is doing next year? Since he left Cornell in the middle of the year this year, when is he eligible to play at a different D1 school (if thats the route he takes). Is he of age to play another year of juniors?

AHA v. Tartan
It really goes to show how the game has changed. In the 70's and 80's, we saw all the time in HS hockey games where a rugged team like Tartan would out work, out shoot, etc. a skilled team like AHA and win the game. Today, sure Tartan out played them for the majority of the game, but Keaton Smith pl...

I know its almost a month removed, but I just wanted to bring this to the top so hockeydad can brag, and people can admit Tartan was much better than anyone thought, not just in this game, but all year<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/happ...

They finished tied for 3rd in the MIAC this year. Some of their key players were Kris Birch (played at SSP and Benilde) and Dan Ubl (played on Blaine's 2000 state championship team). Some other notable MN players that I know are playing there are Nate Peasley (North St. Paul), Jeff Balvin (Maple Gro...

These two teams played for the Bantam A state championship when next year's seniors were second year bantams. I know Centennial will be missing Ryan Flynn off that bantam team, i'm not sure if anyone else will be missing off either team.

OK. My apologies. My point of the post wasnt about who is getting full rides to D1 schools. I just used him as an example because he could have been an impact player in the WCHA but went to Harvard and is getting a great education, and that is what led him there, not the hockey team.

Even Better
What makes it even better is, if you take the top 3 scorers on all 4 of these teams, there is only 1 senior (Colby Genoway, UND). And with the NHL making no progress, these kids arent going anywhere<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ro...

All MN Frozen 4
The all-WCHA frozen four is awesome. It would almost be unrealistic to hope for an all Minnesota Frozen Four one day, but that would be great. Thanks for posting that. That should put to rest a lot of the Warroad bashers. Also, I dont remember the full story of T.J. Oshie's family, but arent they originally from Warroad or something? Someone should post that story on here to shut up the Warroad haters even more. I remember when I heard it ...
