Re: 2024 Section Tournaments

Rosemount made it last year...it was definitely a surprise last year. Natalie Kendhammer played a fantastic game in net for the Irish. She is headed to Hamline to play next fall. Should be a great game Wednesday.

Re: 2024 Section Tournaments

First batch of games last night with two upsets. #7 Park-Cottage Grove over #2 CDH in 3AA #5 Owatonna over #4 Mankato East Looking at the box score, Park outshot CDH and had a 3-0 lead going into the 3rd. Its a clear coasting process of Lakeville North as not one team in the section can compete wit...

No, sorry Old Man. As long as there are thousands of Docs on both sides of this you don’t get to call which side wins. Patriiculy when there are lives suffering and not being accounted for because they aren’t dying of COVID. I dont know you, but it doesn’t appear you see the toll this is taking kids...

That's a good non overturn. I had no idea they went back that far at this level.

Re: Out State Recruitment -- STA this year and going forward

The MSHSL is not actively enforcing their eligibility rules. Organizations like this are reactive in nature, so that makes sense. It isn't realistic to expect them to have the resources to be proactive. You are taking their lack of a response two weeks ago to be inaction. Possible they are investig...

Re: Out State Recruitment -- STA this year and going forward

I wondered how long it was going to take for this to come up. Should have been handled before Sections even started. Should have been handled before the season started. The big thing that gets lost in this sometimes, don't blame the kids. It's the coaches, administrators, and the parents that allow...

Not sure it’s a great idea to post this guys records online. The more I think about it, the more I think that what you’re doing is kind of pathetic. I did delete, however it is public information. You can have those feelings and that is fine. You don't believe the should be a level playing field? I...

Re: Mahtomedi vs Warroad

The upset is possible, but the Zephyrs need to play a complete game and get great goaltending from Dardis and try to capitalize against Warroad's lower lines. Curious if Warroad will try to line-match or do anything tactically to gain an advantage. That said, their top line is really just a coach's...

You can, but MSHSL says you must meet their guidelines to play sports, and athlete(s) on the STA roster do fit the criteria.

Re: Out State Recruitment -- STA this year and going forward

The Minnesota Model Community based hockey is the best in America! Some schools are starting to skirt the rules. The MSHSL is suppose to police this! They clearly are not. This rule looks very clear to me. 100.00 Bylaws General Eligibility: General Eligibility 1) Change of Residence: *Include other...

Re: Out State Recruitment -- STA this year and going forward

Thanks. I guess what I was trying to determine is if doing this is somehow a private school issue. What I'm gleaning is that it isn't. This can just as easily be a public school as it could be a private school doing it. I don't agree with it regardless. Thats not my point. It's just lame when jeffp...

Re: Out State Recruitment -- STA this year and going forward

Can you (or someone) expand on that? The narrative above, and I'm not saying it's true...I have no idea...is that these kids are playing for a MN team without having moved their families. Why is that exclusive to privates versus publics? Seems to me that would be considered a no-no for any team, re...

Re: Out State Recruitment -- STA this year and going forward

This is a serious question. I honestly don't know the rules. Could that goalie and this other kid do this exact same thing with a public school in MN? In other words, these kids came to STA. Could they have also gone to Edina? Or Minnetonka? Stillwater? Or can this only be done because STA is a pri...

Re: Out State Recruitment -- STA this year and going forward

On the last YHH podcast, Tony mentioned at the beginning of the show about a team in the tournament with potential ineligible player issues, but didn't name the team. I'm speculating that team is STA based on the information in the original post. If this is indeed the case, things will get a little...

Out State Recruitment -- STA this year and going forward

I am aware recruiting has been discussed many times and it's a problem that is made increasingly hard to deal with as Open Enrollment makes it nearly impossible to curb. However, the blatant use of out of state kids to fill spots on high school teams is where I think things are going off the rails. ...
