Re: Mask recommendations for high school hockey

I put one hour in on the treadmill today with a mask on. If my fat, out of shape ass can do it I would sure think a teenage hockey player could make it through a game just fine. This is going to be fully on coaches, players, and AD’s. If they want a season bad enough they should be able to figure i...

Re: Early Christmas Present: Boys State Hockey Tournament (Meeting Dec 3rd)

No, sorry Old Man. As long as there are thousands of Docs on both sides of this you don’t get to call which side wins. Patriiculy when there are lives suffering and not being accounted for because they aren’t dying of COVID. I dont know you, but it doesn’t appear you see the toll this is taking kid...

Re: Early Christmas Present: Boys State Hockey Tournament (Meeting Dec 3rd)

Current word is youth hockey (not speaking for HS) will be back in limited fashion on Dec 19 - no guarantee, but good possibility. Elliott, I sure hope you’re right. But, after cases statewide being in the low to mid 3,000 range the last few days, yesterday’s cases were over 4,400 statewide. And, i...

Re: covid and MH

Hey all, I hope everyone is staying safe and your families are healthy. Here's a link to another article regarding the unique challenges hockey poses in regards to the spread of Covid. It has some quotes from Osterholm as well where he explains why hockey is more risky than other indoor sports. http...

Mine were proven true 12 years ago. This year has reinforced those.

I’ll second that Wise!
Much appreciated Elliot and Westy. Wife is pretty bummed as her dad passed away when she was 13 and this particular uncle only lived a mile away and became the de facto dad for her and her 4 siblings.

Re: covid and MH

JG/WOM - We had a 3 + month pause already , now 1 month pause , almost guaranteed to be a following month pause , that’s 5 months out of 10 months from mid March to mid January , and possibility more after that I guess what upsets a lot of people is we don’t seem to see a level of public discussion...

Re: covid and MH

WOM... I actually doubt that we’re too far apart in our thinking regarding the actual virus, but I we’ll have to agree to disagree on the guidance/actions taken by our State government. You never acknowledge the capacity issue? I did read the articles that you posted and most of them specifically p...

Re: covid and MH

Kids play organized sports almost 52 weeks a year, and we're worried a four week pause is going to affect their physical and mental health? That's not worth responding to. If anything, kids are over-programmed in the modern world. I'll listen when these same parents file lawsuits (like the #letthem...

Mandatory bubble mask with Bauer insert (or other similar brand) and 11 person rosters. I have seen smaller communities play with rosters like this for years (as a bonus nobody complains about ice time). 5 people on the bench at a time should provide adequate spacing and the face shields should hav...

Re: covid and MH

WOM - my point was that we can't point you to a study or data that says hockey is safe during a pandemic. No study has been conducted. So instead, I ask for decisions to be made based on relative danger compared to other activities in society. And certainly relative to the dangers that a shut-down ...

The problem is, none of those on the “it’s no big deal”/“just open it up”/“kids hardly ever have bad outcomes or die from this” side of the debate ever acknowledge or are willing/able to provide real facts from legitimate experts to support their positions/opinions. I’ve said a number of times now ...
