Re: Coach Lechner
There are plenty of coaches with lots of talent that manage to screw it up. Kudos to Lech for getting it done consistently.

Re: 3 class system
Terrible idea. Aside from Hermantown, a current top 3 single A team would never win a title. If a Warroad or Mahtomedi has a good year they are penalized by having to play the big metro schools.

Re: covid and MH
Simple. Those folks concerned about contracting the virus should hunker down and protect themselves. No need to punish the kids who have no ill effects from the virus. It shouldn’t be the kid’s job to protect old duffers. Tell Gramps that the grandson is living life, keep your distance if you are wo...

Very low risk group, these hockey players. Let them play, get it over with.

Re: The Hermantown Thread
Heck, Hermantown is just trying to compete. Greenway recruited to make their run, SCC, they recruit their whole roster, Mahtomedi, not sure but probably a couple recruits...it’s either all wrong or all right. But hey, villains make it more interesting so I’m fine with them staying in A. The only rea...
Re: CoVid-19
I got more wisdom where that came from, just let me know the topic.
Re: CoVid-19
The point is, how do we set policy? If we set policy to protect 100% of lives we literally cannot do anything in this life. If we wanted to protect all lives...there were 30k+ lives lost in traffic accidents last year. Well, eliminate cars. Ain’t I a genius? Solved that whole problem in one fell swo...
Re: CoVid-19
Yes, Covid can and will take lives. Avg age of death in mid 80’s? If you are old or sick, shelter in place till you feel comfortable to come out based on low risk or vaccine available. If you are young and healthy (like the college student cited earlier who could have Covid and not even realize it.....
Re: CoVid-19
The point is, you can take the ‘safety’ argument to the Nth degree, and if ultimate safety is your only consideration, how does one argue with you? Yes, it is safer to stay home, never go to a high school hockey game, never go to work, just sit home and collect welfare. If you only consider the peop...
Re: CoVid-19
There is no way I would want the gov’t to be able to track me to the extent that jg is talking about. Does freedom, liberty, privacy not mean anything to people anymore? Especially considering I could get Covid and maybe not even know I have it...
Re: CoVid-19
Call your representatives in Congress and the governor. The medicine is much worse than the malady here.

Re: Mahtomedi vs Hermantown
It’s a hockey scrum, big deal. People complain when coaches interview and say all the correct PC things and a few cliches. When a coach speaks his mind the little people get their undies in a wad.

Re: The Hermantown Thread
I think what these A and AA tournies has highlighted is that it is really tough to win a title. If anybody thinks you can ‘throw talent together’ and it equals a championship, they are sadly mistaken. Lots of things have to work out right, and a GOOD team of home grown talent, and life long buddies,...

Re: Mahtomedi vs Hermantown
The refs let them play. I have no problem with that. The Zephs got away with hooks and holds but nothing to blatant.

Re: The Hermantown Thread
Time for Andrews to get the axe? Three years as head coach, three colossal chokes. I would love to hear from someone who knows hockey and knows Hermantown hockey well enough to know what Hermantown did or didn’t do in order to ‘choke’. They put 42 shots on goal. They bore down and tied it in...

Re: Andover St. Thomas Academy
STA did a great job clogging the middle inside their own blue line. When Andover finally got something through, Aitken was a wall. If Andover could have tied it, I think there would have been a 95% chance they would win it based on how they controlled play late.

Re: The Hermantown Thread
I still say, it is either all right or all wrong to ‘recruit’ players in high school. Hermantown is doing what SCC and Greenway and others do (or have done). Either they are all losers or none of them are. Where do you draw the line?

I would venture to guess Hermantown HS contributed more to his growth than Ely HS could have... Love to see UMD keep the northern boys home.

Re: Association not allowing privates on top teams
Associations should be wholly independent from high schools. The exception may be if the school owns and runs the rink but not sure if that situation exists.

Re: Games Saturday 1-24-20
Can’t quite figure out why Ep with 6 D1s and one more next week isnt more dominant Don’t underestimate the effect on the locker room of bringing in outside talent for a season and expect them to have chemistry. Having talent is one thing, getting all the ingredients to make a good product is quite a...

Re: Games Thursday 1-7-2020
Warroad scores in first minute . Incredible 360 people watching that stream Now 2-0 Warriors 3-0 after first . Sogs approx 12-7 I think Warrior first line is dangerous indeed! Huglen scores 3-1, good pressure by Rams Incredible back and forth hockey game. 470 watching the stream Foster makes it 4-1...

Re: Upper Midwest HS Hockey Ratings/Rankings: JAN/05/2020
It may work for MN teams, but not worth anything for other states. For ex, the only MI teams that show up are among the worst in the state.
