Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey
MN Scout...I've talked to plenty trust me...And I've gotten texts from parents while they were there...Social media tends to create this "everything is perfect" world but behind the scenes it's just not that way But we are getting off topic and if someone wants to start a thread called &q...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020
WOW!! that's big losses at East. OUCH #-o Yeah, on the surface, it appears they will struggle to score goals. We'll find out if Coach Mike has a rabbit up his sleeve. Lee When hasn’t he a rabbit up his sleeve? He seems, year in and year out, to be successful with what he has....without a doubt ther...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters
I really like how they have formated this, for the most part. It seems as if the cities teams have all been mashed together. The Plains and North teams seem to have outline's to an extent, but I feel that may be more for ride-sharing and hotels. A few surprises from the "North" team this y...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020
I agree with Kniven on this one - for a coach to use the words "banish" to a player sounds way out of character. If he said he was going to leave and the coach doesn't play him and opens up a spot for another player, that sounds like moving forward. However what do I know...everyone can a...

Re: Wisconsin has its own Hermantown in Superior
Superior will not hurt Hermantown's "recruiting" The Wisco Tourney is not nearly the same as ours. It's quite sad to see pictures actually. Superior is also not alone in D2, Northland Pines, which is from Eagle River area, was in the top 3 all year, and they are in Div. 2. They are also fa...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
What would be an interesting statistic is what percentage of a team’s roster is on free and reduced lunch. I know for Greenway’s full roster there is only one player (bench player) who might be on free/reduced lunch. This f/r lunch figure has a significant impact on the pool of kids that will/can g...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
So, what's the answer. What could the MSHSL do to stop this from continuing to happen? Seems pretty rare nowadays to see top teams with all homegrown kids. And to me that is what made MN high school hockey special. It's turning into Midget or Junior hockey where kids can pick and choose where they ...

Re: State of Hockey's Team
A lot of you have been talking about the age limit in NCAA hockey. There currently is a limit to when a player can start his freshman year of playing hockey. The current age is 21, although the BIG10 tried to get it down to 20 a few years ago and were attacked for it. I have listed a few articles ab...

Relax old timer...Man this forum has become such a place to bash anyone who speaks their mind or offers up an opinion on something Why? My only point was trying to give families a little break from hockey. I guess that makes me the town idiot I am with you on giving the kids a break. After a season...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
This topic has taken an interesting turn. I wouldn't have thought in 100 years we'd be talking about whether STA, et al opting down would be a good thing! Lee I guess, with respect, maybe read the prior posts by myself. I went back and took a read, and it may take some proper oversight, but I somew...

Re: 2019 All State Announcements
Not enough room for all the kids. No Biondi. Usual see Luedtke listed on things before Docter, here it is Doc on 1st team and Josh on 2nd. No Liam Malmquist, which is peculiar but consistent with every other thing where Nevers & Jungels get recognized and he doesn't. (Newsflash: he's real good!...

Re: New State Tournament Format (or my day dream)
There are 150 some teams in the state for boys hockey. Top 49 (based on enrollment) are AAA and you have 7 sections of 7 teams geographically. Section winners advance to state. The top 2 ranked teams to lose in Section finals have a one game playoff to earn the 8th spot at state. This protects for ...

Re: 16 Subsection Model
Overall, it’s a nice model that needs some tweaking ‘g biggest issue is making all but on Metro team go up to Duluth to play. I do not get why that should be the case. Just move it to Mariucci. Depends on who is making the decisions. Mariucci is Olympic sized ice and Amsoil in professional sized. D...

Re: 16 Subsection Model
I really like this idea. Would the teams get behind somewhat of an NFL style of scheduling too, like you have to play all teams in your section in a home and home, then you get a partner section that you split 2 at home, and 2 away. Then open for the conference and free scheduling? I think the 2 hom...

Re: Eden Prairie vs Blaine
=P~ Still butt hurt Tonka was BETTER than DE huh? 😂 Tonka was the better team but the referees association came out and said that was the worst officiated game. They apologized. That's what I was getting at. Always an excuse 😉 And the excuse Thursday was they didn’t let DE mug STA (like the ...

Re: Eden Prairie vs Blaine
Don’t have a team in this fight. That was the worst reffereed game in recent memory. Did it effect the final result? I don’t know and we will never know that is the disappointment. I re-watched a little last night when I got home and the calls were mysterious to say the least. Until the State Refer...

Re: AA Consolation: Duluth East vs Lakeville South
That PP goal was so smooth again. Lyle sliding it back door to Donovan just like the section final. The penalty was soft, it was a bad judgment call by the ref imo.east hockey wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2019 11:42 am East up 2-0 in the 1st. Anderson and Donovan (pp) with the goals.

Re: AA Consolation: Duluth East vs Lakeville South
I wonder if the TRIA rink Minnesota Wild practice arena would be a better venue for the consolation games? That would definitely be interesting, and I think it would be a fun atmosphere. I'm curious how long the contract is for with Mariucci. If we are going to kick the wild out of their home games...

AA Consolation: Duluth East vs Lakeville South
I have my hounds if they can start passing the puck around better like they were in sections? Ricky Lyle is rendered useless if he doesnt get any passes. If that doesnt happen, Lakeville South will beat East again. 2012 rematch or a make up for their missed game earlier this year?

I am rooting for North Branch as they are the feel good story on this side of the bracket imo.
