Re: Minnesota Hockey Taking Over?

Just to recap where we are: It is o.k. for my kid to go to school with 1000 people two days per week (that's half of his full school size, and they are starting out in hybrid learning). It is o.k. for him to work 8 hour shifts at Cub grocery store and interact with people and be sure that everyone ...

Re: Covid Masks while Playing?

My son is doing a youth summer camp at a city run arena this year. Right now, they have to wear a mask going into the building, inside the locker room while getting dressed, and then it can come off when they are ready to put their helmet on. Once they are off the ice, the mask goes on when they ar...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

First, to OldManRiver... I’m sorry, so the Buffalo principle didn’t state it exactly the way YOU think she should’ve but, when you, Goldy, grindian, and 7Times, have to actually put YOUR fannies and livelihoods on the actual line from a decision-making standpoint, we’ll see how YOU react. You guys ...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

When I read comments like this I become frustrated: Other board members urged caution. “Activities are an important privilege, not a right,” said Kris DeClerk-Thompson, assistant principal at Buffalo High School. “Is a kid’s life worth what we all want?” Obviously, nobody is asking to put kids in a ...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

You realize our fatality rate is FAR WORSE than S. Korea, Australia, Germany, and numerous other advanced Democracies. Plus, almost every expert I've read or heard interviewed with any actual expertise in epidemiology or virology is saying that, not only are we vastly under-counting infections due ...

Re: Association not allowing privates on top teams

This is an interesting concept and discussion because it calls into question the reasons for playing youth sports. If you feel that kids play youth sports to have fun, learn how to deal with success and failure, and develop skills along the way, you probably think this rule is overly harsh. If you f...

Sources are saying that they are initially leaning toward the following section assignments: Enjoy - Doc A proposed Minnesota High School section alignment scheme based on a 3-Tier system considering strength of program/ratings and Geo location. D1 --> Top 40 teams 26.85% D2 --> Middle 69 Te...

Question on Factors for playing at A or AA

I'm directing this at the people who have invested time in looking at A and AA level schools and have some distinct data points that are used when trying to make a decision at the level to play. I've been asked to gather some information about what factors go into a high school playing A versus AA, ...

Re: Might be an ugly season...

Issues I saw, any hit where a player was hit hard, and cleanly, was penalized, especially if the other team or crowd "ohhh and ahh". They would give a rough, elbow or interference. Most puck carriers hit were players skating with their head down. Some just bigger, stronger player standing after a c...

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey

For all of the talk that out-of-state players seem to generate, I tend to agree with what was posted earlier - it's the kids moving intrastate that seem to make up the bulk of new faces on teams. Kids that jump programs that are perpetually weaker (and continue to be so) in order to play on programs...

Yes this is confirmed. He even played on the Duluth Marshall team 2 weekends ago in a tournament since Randolph has banished him skating from anything to do with East. Banished? What the heck would a high school hockey coach be throwing out the “I banish you” words. That’s not the language of a hig...

Re: 2019 HP U17 or U16 Boys Rosters?

Do you think this is a more recent development, or has it gotten worse... I'm hearing this kind of talk more frequently than I used to (which is of course anecdotal because I have a limited network of hockey folks) and know firsthand two families who have had players skip the process altogether - an...

While the team struggles, the outdoor ice at Coon Rapids Ice Center is very nice. I know that they play a few outdoor games each year - perhaps you can see if they have one against a top end team from the northern suburbs?

I, like most, thought Cloquet had a shot.
Now I think Andover has a shot. But Randolph has a pact with the devil so my money is on DEast.
That pact must not include winning State Tournaments the past 20 years 😉🏒
That's how the devil works. He's not all good. Just enough to disappoint.
