Re: Hockey is on

Reporting on schools paying for tourney themselves was by Erick Kraushar Chanhassen/Chaska Sport. This was according to MSHSL director Erich Martens. No money in the budget per Martens.

Today's ruling is bad news in regards to having a full year and the State Tourney Football, Volleyball, Soccer, Swimming and Cross COuntry only doing a "Two Week' Sectional to conclude season.... The State Tournament at the X the crown jewel of our sport looking even LESS likely today.... Hockey wi...

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

How much do school districts contribute towards ice costs for boys hockey? Would be interesting to see the difference between metro and outstate high schools.

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

I am having a hard time seeing what the uproar on the 300% fee increase is. If you start with a very low number to begin with, of course the % increase is going to be high. Take both examples listed in the article... St. Croix Lutheran (500 students) has their cost go up a total of $8,332. Assuming ...

Re: Minnesota Hockey Taking Over?

Heard that Minnesota Hockey is investigating taking over high school hockey if Mshsl cancels it. Anyone here any truth to it. What are the most significant hurdles that would exist to this occurring? (Please do not turn this into a Covid is the most significant hurdle thread, we all know that). A f...

Re: Minnesota Hockey Taking Over?

That could cause quite the conundrum for Hermantown. Under Minnesota Hockey they are strong enough to field a AA and A team, but in MSHSL they can magically only field an A team.

Re: Coaching Changes - 2020-21

I think there was an article in the local paper about a Rewertz(?) being named coach at Hibbing. Was a former player for Hibbing back in the early 90s and was involved with boys and girls youth levels. Tried to find the link online, but could not find it. Also, I have heard that the coach at Virgin...

Re: 2020 Elite League rosters

The league is almost all good. No question about it. But man, they could help themselves avoid a lot of questioning of their credibility by paying just a little bit of attention to the insider moves the coaches make. It’s a great league. The spots are precious. It’s unfortunate they don’t always lo...

Forgot one.

Jeff Laspi was named head hockey coach at Proctor. Was most recently an assistant for the Proctor-Hermanton girls team.

Re: 3 Privates & EP walk into a pub

There will be 4 great hockey games played today at the X. If people can get over ther names and zone in on the games, they can be entertaining. I think everyone should remember when watching these games, they are HIGH SCHOOL teams. Cant find anything else like it I guess for me, it's more that I ju...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

My bad on my previous post. Brain automatically went with enrollment, not youth hockey levels.

I have heard that Hibbing has very large numbers at the Squirt and lower levels. No idea on what Virginia and Eveleth are at, but I would guess they would be similar to Hibbing if they combined.

Um heck no , rather play in the big tournament the real class with 20,000 fans not 6500 and besides a little upt up town of Grand Rapids won in 2017 AA state tournament with the same amount of kids in the youth program as Hibbing, Virginia, Eveleth, Thief River Falls , Alexandria, East Grand Forks,...

WDIO in Duluth will be streaming both the 7A and 7AA semifinals on Saturday along with the section championships. It's $34.95 for the 6 game package. https://portal.stretchinternet.com/wdio/ I wonder how many northland viewers they'd get if it ends up being ER-Andover live from Fogarty . #-o rainie...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020

Talent wise, Grand Rapids probably finished right where they belonged. I am not sure why everyone thought they would finish lower, especially with Langebrunner leaving Cloquet and the Jeanette and Anderson leaving East. They had seven players in Elite League, which might have been the most in the st...

Re: 7A - Thoughts

I think Hermantown will probably roll through this section. I would expect the top four to make it to Duluth, but Eveleth sure didn't do themselves any favors by losing to Hibbing. They get a first round matchup with a team they squeaked by in their last meeting with a last second goal. I also think...

Hibbing upsets E-G 5-4 in OT. Wonder if this opens up #3 spot for Greenway, allowing them to avoid the Evil Empire in the semis, at least? Denfeld-Greenway semi could be a very entertaining game. Re: Section Seeding Meetings

I heard last night that 7A is on Tuesday the 11th in Proctor. Not sure if that is accurate because that would mean a handful of games not being used for seeding purposes.
