Re: CEC boys High School Hockey to A

There is about an 80% chance that your AA state tourney will have these teams Edina Duluth East Lakeville North or South Hill STA Eden Prairie or Minnetonka Maple Grove or Blaine Moorhead Section 8 gives us the most chance for a variation. So Class AAA could be with these eleven and add in Wayzata,...

Re: What's not clicking for Chaska?

Maybe Chaska should opt down to A hockey. This whole AA thing just ain’t working out and could really hurt the egos of these poor kids. I feel so bad for them to lose games to good teams and that the league expects them to play AA simply because there’s a lot of students that attend their school. Th...

Re: CEC boys High School Hockey to A

Well jeez why doesn’t everyone just go to A then they all have a chance to win. I think Edina should opt down. They haven’t won state since 2014 and that’s just not fair! They have worked so hard and deserve it. Screw earning anything. Let’s just go to where it’s easier. That’s a great lesson to tea...

Re: CEC boys High School Hockey to A

I don’t get why anyone would think moving down to A is 1) going to get you a free ticket to St. Paul each year 2) going to be better for your program when you can already compete at the AA level. There should be a lot more AA teams not just Cloquet. EGF, Denfeld, Hermantown, Alex, Hibbing, Sartell, ...

I really didn't like how the Edina players were taking dives when other players would give them a love tap... but I also saw it from Lakeville a couple times too. Wish HS refs weren't so chicken ***t and would call that crap. I do think the tourney would have been better with Blaine, Hill and Wayzat...

First off, I'll say that I am a huge fan of HS hockey in MN and make the trek to St Paul every year. It is the greatest HS tourney in the country in my opinion with just the atmosphere alone. I also think MN high school hockey will be just fine without Lou Nanne and Don Lucia's kids. So a bunch of g...

I think he meant when making picks for the tourney this year people will be picking a section 1 team to actually win the first game. I don't ever recall a team from that section being a favorite. I'm definitely on Norths bandwagon this year and may pick them to win it all. They've had some surprisin...

There was a time when this would be a huge game. Nowadays... not so much. I wish some of these classic teams could make a run one year.

When a player acts out of line it is always up to the coach and the players parent to set them straight. If the kid doesn't straighten up, then the coach and the parents have failed. I like the tough guy mentallity but this is high school hockey, not juniors and not pros. Maybe the coach should try ...

I do not want to see Edina back at state this year and I really hope that Burnsville takes them out in sections. I do have the upmost respect for Edina though. I used to think they just get all the lucky bounces but if you really watch them you can see they have a team full of kids with Zach Parise ...

A lack of rules, etc., relating to the perceived need of this, isn't the problem. A lack of enforcement of said already existing rules is. Hockey, especially the upper levels, more than any other sport, leaves to much to the discretion of the official, when a rule says otherwise. The "put the ...

I don't really think anyone is overrated I just think this year is wide open and that we will see a lot of upsets come section/state tourney time. Each section (except for section 1) seems to have one or two teams that could really take out the top team this year. 1: Lakeville North seems to be a sh...

I have the lone Rapids vote so far. Just feel like this year is hard to predict (i.e. EGF beats Blaine then loses to Breck 6-rip) and can see another "WHAT, that makes no sense" result here.

What if we took the face masks off and even wore less padding? Athletes wear a ton of protection nowadays and there are more injuries than ever. Taking checking out of Pee Wees doesn't help the situation either, unless you're going to get rid of checking at all levels. Kids learning to deliver and t...

I love hard hits. That said, I have seen a few that seemed extreme. One in particular sticks in my mind, a smaller lesser skilled player that found himself center ice with the puck as the majority of both lines changed. Poor kid, wrong place, wrong time. Ended his season. By all the rules a clean h...
