Re: Scoring by top seniors
Part of the goal is to counteract the super-agent dads who elevate reputation beyond skill, or early college commitments that create an impression of "top of the heap" that isn't backed up on the ice. Points aren't perfect, but they're objective. It's a noble effort. I think you've identi...

That hypothetical CDH v. Rosemount section semi-final would be an excellent game. Lots of quality on the ice.PhunnsieMcHockeyDad wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 3:13 pm 3AA

I think the first "endgame" of the referee shortage will be that non-varsity sports will not have officials. Games will be officiated by coaches. It's already happening in soccer.
I wonder how parents, coaches, and participants will feel about that.

Skavnek, yes, that is who I was thinking of  Too many facts in my smallish brain Five goalies at Mankato (one was the emergency goalie who played HS hockey and is on the Mankato tennis team) and she is not one of them. I wonder if she is deferring her enrollment for a year. And this probably ...

Finally, Centennial with a nice 2-0 win over Hill on Goodreau's two un-assisted goals. But apparently assists get handed out for... moral support?... at Centennial? I agree with you on the first goal. I didn't see the assists, and even watched the replay when I got home. On the 2nd goal, #4 battled...

Re: AA Rankings for 12/19/21
High School hockey is no longer a community based sport Parents will continue to shop their kids for greener pastures MSHSL is sitting on their hands with little or no desire to fix this (and it's very easy to fix) Coaches say they are handcuffed, but come on, we are all smarter than that AD's just...

Oh sorry, you labeled this an “upsets” thread.
At least the game was even in the 3rd period, who can truly tell which team is better?

Game report on last nights game was simple they jumped out to a 3-0 lead with the third goal bring a back breaker. The next 2 periods was an even game. The next time we play Edina it will be s different game. Can we say that either team really dominated? This is hilarious. Let me try your logic. &q...

Wayzata at Centennial/SLP tonight. Wayzata has established their credentials already this season, the Cougars can do the same tonight with a strong performance. Both teams quietly playing really good hockey. Rogers is interesting, saw them play opening night and their first group was really good. D...

Re: Teams Making a Jump to Relevance
Johnson asked for Ramsey County to make upgrades to Phalen-Gustafson Arena, on the JHS campus. I was among many who thought this was a great idea. This may have been about 15 years ago. Johnson had no longer needed the capacity of Aldrich. I went to a few games there at that time, and it was a pret...

SO SAD... I always have loved the Govies and Moose at the helm trying to keep that thing going... I have heard some bad rumors that in two years they wont have a program... Hoping that is not true. Why are their home games at Phalen Arena and not at Aldrich? Aldrich is still a St. Paul public arena...

Re: 21/22 Schedules
I've found the schedules at Hockey Hub to be reliable in the past, but I see the schedule for H-M is not complete. It lacks the games against EP, Hermantown, and the final holiday tournament game. Is this just an anomaly? Or has Hockey Hub been inaccurate in the past, and I just never noticed? http...

This league has turned into pond hockey. 5 of 8 Saturday games had 10+ goals pumped past the best MNHS goalies by the winning team. Play some defense. #BadOptics Devil's advocate. The real season is close. Why risk an injury in a meaningless game? Yeah, I hate to break it to all the parents, but th...

Re: 2021-22 Season - Your Predictions and Observations
My predictions. I don't think they're controversial. Single A - Chisago Lakes over either Warroad / Proctor-Hermantown. SSP will be the other semi-finalist. Double A - Edina over Minnetonka. Edina has the best G and top defense corps in the State. That will be enough. Andover and the winner of 4AA a...

And I wonder if UST isn't leaning too hard on the MN Girls.... Come on now, there is a North Dakotan in the 2023 class. "Starting for Andover - by way of <fill in the blank>...." Imagine how long the intros would take on 11/13 (Minnetonka v. Andover) if the announcer did this for each pla...

Re: Recruiting Update Tommies > Gophers?
I don't know who was recruiting who - would echo what others have said about these 4 (plus Sajevic from Gentry who has also committed to UST) being in the top group of MN '23's that would normally be steering towards Ridder or other top programs. UST Women's Hockey is off to a fast start with this ...
