Re: Section 8AA Class AA 20-21
Looking at returning varsity rosters, Roseau appears to be the preseason favorites. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see Moorhead number one at the end of the season. A senior heavy team kept almost all the sophomore class waiting in the wings on JV. And as mentioned, they bring in a very good Bantam ...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
Yes. So Is the secret to beating Hermantown to get out and skate the Rainey River up north a whole month or two before things freeze up down south just like they did back in 64? This one is simple. How'd they do it?? How'd I falls do it? No one ever skates the ‘Rainey’ or the Rainy River. Not in 64...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
wow- I understand the arguments for Hermantown to move to AA, as has always been my stance I encourage them to do so. What I am against is the underlying reason for everyone wanting them to go which is that they are successful. And not so much that they are successful, but that all the other teams ...

Re: Mahtomedi vs Warroad
Of the big 3 teams (Warroad, SCC, and Hermantown) I wondered if the Warriors might have trouble if their top line didn't produce and they played a team that had more depth. Not sure if that is how it is playing out as I am just tuning in.

Re: Single A Blowouts
Eliminate the "Opt Up" option - no exceptions. Each team below the mid-enrollment point would have to play A. In addition to Warroad, Mahtomedi, Hermantown and St. Cloud Cathedral you would have teams like St. Thomas, Blake, Breck, Benilde, Holy Angels, Grand Rapids, Roseau, East Grand Forks, C-E-C...

Re: The Hermantown Thread
It seems it will be a tougher road than usual to the championship game and a title for the Hawks. A potential match-up with SCC in the semis and Warroad in the finals. It seems like a while since they have been the "underdog".

Re: The Hermantown Thread
I'm surprised that there isn't more uproar within the Hermantown community to move them up to AA on a couple of year trial basis...might even help recruiting to get the boys to the bigger show The Hermantown parents I know don't want to. They look at losing in the PeeWee or Bantam AA STATE Tourname...

That is my take as well.Green and White Fan wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 3:03 pmAbout 1 hour 1 minute into the telecast is when the goal is disallowed. Certainly appears as if the Bemidji player is out of the crease and pushed into the goalie.

Re: Section 8 AA semis
I think STMA and Moorhead are solid favorites. I think Moorhead got a bit of a wake-up call with the tight score against Bemidji. I think Roseau has the talent, but they seem to be off their game a bit and will have a long bus ride.

Re: Could a Class A team win it all this year if we still had single class tourney?
I see two thing happening with a single class tournament (8 Teams) in regards to class A teams. 1. If the sections are competitively balanced with top teams, it will be just a recreation of the AA tournament filled with AA teams with occasionally a single A team making the tournament. Maybe a Herman...

Re: No northern team makes the tourney this year
I would say that Andover has the psychological advantage this year of feeling like the are truly the best team in 7AA and there isn't that "mystique" of East (with them being down in talent and playoff experience). I would also say Moorhead is primed for a deep push at State. If the seeding generall...

Re: People wanting to stay A... about single A teams recruiting
I would say that being a class A team near a "metro" area has some distinct advantages that go beyond player movement. Areas like Duluth, Fargo-Moorhead, Grand Forks-EGF, etc. are hockey hubs. Players have access to development that "satellite" programs can't match. I will use EGF as an example. Th...
