Re: CoVid-19

Goldy , how are you doing symptomwise right now ? I am fine, thanks for asking.....I went back to work Thursday. I can not comprehend how much has changed in 15 days. It was nothing more than a mild chest cold for me that lasted 3-4 days. I would not have missed work for it had I not been told to. ...

Re: Transfers 2020-21

I give it a 1 in 3 chance there is no hockey come October. No decision should be made on where to play early. I completely agree with this. I'm not sure how anything will happen until there's a vaccine. Relatedly, I don't think there will be any fall high school or college sports. There are other f...

Since most volunteers who would keep SOG stats are parents I think it is relevant to point out how hard it can get to track the shots while also watching a kid play.

Re: Goalies moving on to next level

Goalies moving on is a difficult and long road as compared to skaters due to less roster spots. Example: Charlie Glocker was Brimsek winner and the USA Today National HS goalie of the year last season. He is still pursuing a college offer. To expand let's take last year as an example, 1 went to USH...

I might (might) put Moorhead up,
I think Brainerd my be up,
Bemidji will be better but are still a year or more away from challenging.
I like Moorhead over Roseau, but it's close

Re: Shots on net - Stats Youth Hockey

However, it does happen with Tier II League (volunteer levels) but it's certainly not the majority of leagues. Guess I made my observation from too small of sample size. It's not rocket science and shouldn't be hard for parent volunteers to learn. I prefer to refer to youth hockey volunteers as pro...

They always have picked teams without camp. The players have always been decided before.
It's probably as much about who will ultimately accept the invitations

HP is being discussed as I type this.
It seems that HP could be more easily postponed for a few weeks/months without a lot of impact.

Not only Hogg, but why isn't Limesand mentioned in this discussion? Some BSM insiders seem to be talking about next year's starter by way of the Elite League.
Can you translate? BSM back-up invited to EL which means Limesand is leaving? Not sure they need to be related.

Erickson is a natty camp goalie and been on the HM varsity team as a Fr and Sophomore, good luck

Re: NTDP tryout invitations

Christian Manz is listed as 5'10" on the SSM roster. I don't believe he will grow another full inch. He is as tall as his father right now, two bookends. The other goalie on SSM 16's is 6'3", but a Canadian. I believe CM record was 16-4, the Canadian was 19-1 the last I saw. I would bet that CM wil...

Re: NTDP tryout invitations

How is it that Christian Manz, goaltender at SSM from Spring Lake Park didn't get an invite. The kid is a stud. I call BS. They invited six others. I don’t believe Manz went to National Camp last summer. Would suspect all of the six did, or at least five. I think 4 of the 6 went to natty's and all ...

Where's Duluth East? Have they ever been out of the picture two years in a row? I would say most will write them off coming in to next year. They do need to find a goalie, but I think theyll be better than this past year. They had a lot of underclassmen get some good ice time last year. If you look...

So you're relying on whatever mom or dad had the assigned duty to keep the book for that game. You're never going to get accurate shot stats from one game to another.

Re: 2020-21 Early Rankings: SWEET SIXTEEN

I was on the South bandwagon all year......until I saw them in the playoffs. They made the goldy313 list of top 5 worst teams to make the state tournament out of 1AA since the two class split. They can’t score, they struggled in 1AA after the 1 vs 8 game and needed outside help at that to score. Ha...
