Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

Ding, ding, ding....there will be people/organizations who are gonna capitalize and make a lot of $ if they shut MNHS hockey down. I agree there are organizations that would want to do this. But I would be willing to bet that if there is no MSHSL hockey season this year, similarly, arenas will not ...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

USHL came out saying they plan to have a full season yesterday... If High School Hockey does not happen could private leagues and entities take over the game here in MN and kill High School Hockey as we know it? Ding, ding, ding....there will be people/organizations who are gonna capitalize and mak...

If I remember correctly, Andrews was headed to HF at some point. Wondering if he could revisit that??
So this would be the cascading effect WM brought up?

Re: Early Departures 2020-2021

Be interesting to see how it plays out. Not sure if I’m interpreting your comment right WestMetro......but are the odds higher that the high school season will happen.....or are the odds higher that the junior hockey season will happen? I personally think it's a toss-up. The junior season may go by...

The MDH isn’t allowing indoor competitions until at least July 29th. The MSHSL is following that guidance/edict. I doubt any school will go Townball on the MSHSL.
My understanding is the Braemar scrimmages are a full go (and some scrimmages will be played at SLP as was mentioned above).

Tryouts are historically the Sunday of the festival at Braemar, so July 19th?

One could say that commitment hasn’t been historically strong on many fronts in this situation.

I found several documents stating Minnesota has 240 ICU beds. Currently 180 of those beds are being used. Trending last week ICU beds being used 118 135 155 166 182 Look at number infected over last week 500 400 400 500 600 700. Stay at home for common good! We have not reached the plateau yet! The...

Re: USHL Futures Draft May 4th

Not a single MN netminder drafted and the 04's are a pretty good group....Manz, Dardis, Erickson and Wallin. What's up with that? Phase II maybe? Slightly surprised nobody went, but only 7 goalies went in total yesterday and typically you aren't going to see more than a 1-2 MN goalies go in Phase I...

As of Saturday the youngest Minnesotan died of Covid-19, he was 44 and lived in a long term care facility. That brought the average age of a Minnesotan that died from Covid-19 down to 83 from 86. Of course the average life expectancy of Minnesotans is 78....every death is a loss but from the day we...

Re: CoVid-19

I agree Goldy. I see they are reporting that we are near 1,000,000 cases in the US. With a population of 350,000,000 that means that less than 1/3 of 1 percent of our population has, or has already, had it. That means that over 99.7% of our population has not. While we don't have much published dat...

Governor Walz talked at his press conference yesterday about going ahead with planning for distance learning for the 2020-2021 school year, while prudent because we are clearly unprepared for distance learning now......in 4 weeks my daughter has had one.....one! assignment in total. Re: CoVid-19

Any comparison between the US and South Korea is beyond ludicrous from a public health standpoint; the US has a 36.4% obesity rate, 12th in the world, South Korea has a 4.7% obesity rate, 183rd in the world out of 191 countries. COVID-19 disproportionately affects the obese, obesity affects the nor...

Re: CoVid-19

We would be able to "get this economy rolling again" if we let the virus run its course NOW by starving it out by staying at home, and then have a comprehensive testing and tracing regime like other countries (Germany, with its trained physician as head of state, is the #1 example, along with South...

What we have here is the perfect example of both ends of a spectrum being pushed. Some people say lock it all down and keep everybody safe from the virus. Even though that virus has killed fewer people than the flu, heart disease, smoking, and etc. (I won't mention the "A" word as I don't want to g...

This is a cost-benefit analysis problem that will need to be addressed very shortly. Everyone will have their own opinion, there is not a "correct" answer here, there are going to be many trade-offs and none of them are going to be pleasant. It will be an exercise of making these trade-offs and sele...
