I can't even believe this is up for discussion. 3????? Wow! Would a child want to go to preschool if he had to sit at a desk all day and do flashcards? Why on earth would a 3 year old want to play hockey if they only did drill after drill? To answer the original question association or aaa? AAA is n...

[Pine City had their tryouts @ our place this weekend as well. Many of these parents seemed interested as well. I can't see them having a problem filling up w/kids.] It would be nice to see some of the small town kids that don't have access to ice year round, take advantage of programs that are clos...

So are you implying that a bunch of gold kids will be moving to the blades and orange teams next year? Relax HD41, nothing was implied, it was a joke. I have no inside info as to what kids are staying or going, or who will make the team for that matter. I am just saying that as kids move from team ...

It's always easy to blame the "other guy", but what is the parents responsibility (or coach)? One would think a parent would not have his child swim in a 100 meter race if he could not swim (only using example because of Olympics). Why on earth would you have your kid participate in a &quo...

Does it matter where you live?

I keep hearing, "little Jonny and his family are moving to Edina". I understand Edina is a powerhouse when it comes to hockey. But my question is this... is it really necessary to up and move ones family to develop a hockey player? If so, what is wrong with the system?

[quote**First time that the 3 top 03 teams in the metro will be on the same ice. Expect Orange to come out on top] When talking about 8-9 year olds, nothing can be "expected". Both Blades and MG have good little players. Aspen could be a wild card, who knows how good they are. It will be f...

It looks like a great program, but only open to FL kids. FL is very lucky, and have worked hard to have such a great facility and coaches. Drive further up north and we don't have those options, heck we don't even have a rink. Until more programs like this grow to include all kids, there will be a d...

"hope of the north" was posted by HD 41, not a MG parent. Also, what about all the crap that is posted by the Blades and Made camp? Are you serious, it's the same thing. You are right about one thing, bragging about ALL of the tourneys gets a little old. At the end of the day, who cares? A...

Maybe the coach is that bad. I do not know, I am just saying. All too often the parents get blamed for childlike behavior. I have seen situations where coaches have pigeon holed mites into one position for their own childs gain, laugh when one of their player's get hurt because that kid is faster th...

TH- I like the story about the kid that never thinks he's good enough, but I have perspective from the other side. I am 35, growing up I played basketball. Both my parents always told me how great I was, how good of a job I was doing, that I was a super star, and how great it was that I was so tall....

I am only aware of two that are rostered for both MG and Legacy 03. It seems to be just one families choice. Other kids may just be filling in when Legacy needs players, probably just for pick-up tourny's.

"They would have had a hard time competing with the 03 Xtreme who won the 02 open."

Maybe. I would rather lose than play teams when you win 10+ to 0. MG 03 has pretty solid defense, so it would have been a much better game to watch. [/quote]

Goofy, I think you're missing the point. The whole thread has been about having another option. I think it is safe to say that there are great hockey players in this state other than Edina. MG opens the doors to hockey families that may not have the means to drive to the south and spend excessive am...

Most of the truly "Elite" teams (otherwise known as...teams that think they are the greatest) will not hold try-outs. If your child is that good, word travels fast, so they already know and they will contact you (whoever "they" may happen to be). No joke. Otherwise, the rest will...

Be as cynical as you want, it still doesn't change the fact that the program has great coaching, the cost is fantastic, it is run very well, and yes, the kids are not treated as income. If the kids stay... well that still is yet to be seen. But I do not see why they wouldn't!

It is also not just the gas, its travel time as well. A handful of the players travel anywhere from 30-50 miles just to get to the SR. MG opens the door to a whole lot of talent that may have never been tapped otherwise.

MG beat the Blades 7-6 in this mornings rematch. The game ended with 2 MG players in penalty box. MG defended the net 3 on 6 to hold the score. A great game played by ALL the kids!

I love this idea! In our small northern association, we just do not have the numbers to field a strong A team. At every level we have exceptional players that end up playing B hockey. Why did it end up dead in the water at the meetings? It seems that this would benefit a lot of smaller D10 associati...
