I don't think he's insinuating the move to rink 2 is a reason for their downward turn. It's just a side note. I'm in agreement with many previous posters about Benilde, this season is likely just a bump in the road and a learning experience for some younger players. I'd be surprised if they don't st...

I'm sure that's what Holy Angels thought too, how long has it been since they've been relevant? Maybe this question has been asked and answered before, but what did happen at Holy Angels that caused them to become irrelevant? They were arguably the best team in the state in the early 2000's, now th...

I was looking at St Thomas' schedule, and from December 8th to January 17th they play 10 straight road games. Then from January 26th to February 14th they play 8 straight home games. This seems so weird, is there a reason for this imbalance of home/road games or is it just a coincidence?

Not the only association going through that..... Sad to see kids who work all through school to play their Jr or Sr year and are never get the chance. Kids, when shown faith by those coaches, would bust down walls to play for them. Coaches may be surprised by what they have in some of those kids. I...

I wouldn't be one bit surprised if Poehling goes ahead of Casey. It's much easier to project a player's future when seen vs 18-25 year olds than 15-18 year olds. If Ryan has a decent season at SCSU, even if Casey puts up Kloos type numbers for EP, then Poehling could definitely hear his name called ...

They'd both be long shots to win their sections, but I'd love to see Kennedy in class A and Jefferson in AA. These two represented their section at State each year from about 1980 to 1995, winning 5 or 6 titles during that period.

A few that come to mind, using the criteria of a) I was old enough to watch them play and b) State Tournament champions (since there's many great teams who did not win it all): 1987 Bloomington Kennedy Eagles 1992-1994 Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars 1995 Duluth East Greyhounds 1996 Apple Valley Eagle...

That used to be one of the best rivalries in the state in its heyday. Even though Jefferson dominated the rivalry starting in the early 90's, BIG would be rocking during the games between Kennedy and Jefferson as far back as I can remember (mid 80's) to the early 2000's. In the 80's and early 90's i...

This may be a dumb question, but where do the kids who go to teams like Omaha U16 live? Do they move to Omaha/wherever their U16 team is, and if so does their family move with them? Is it similar to USHL where many kids live with billets? Also, where do these kids go to high school when they leave f...

Rudy - if all this draft picks that didn't make it in the NHL had even a 10th of the amount of heart you had they'd all be in the Hall of Fame! You can't take out the injury factor, though, because that's just one of the many reasons players drafted at 18 years old don't succeed at the highest level...

Don't get me wrong, Gwozdecky is a fantastic coach with a very good track record - but I'm very surprised by that move. Mark Osiecki has a bright future as a college coach. He'll get another opportunity somewhere and will make the most of it.
