Sure, but you would never say he's "from" MN and count him as being a MN kid on this list. He's a kid from NY going to school in MN.....for hockey.

You mean the kid that is listed from Potsdam, NY? Does he live here other than to go to SSM?

There's also a kid that played at SSM that isn't from MN....there are only 5 kids from MN on this list. Novak is from WI and I'm certain they would claim him.

Re: NTDP Tryout Camp Roster Announced for 1997s

So I think that you need to turn your question on top of its head.... Does the fact that there are fewer top-end MN kids who are willing to try-out for a team based in Michigan suggest that they are (generally speaking) more satisfied with their local hockey options than those kids who live in stat...

NTDP Tryout Camp Roster Announced for 1997s

http://www.usantdp.com/news_article/show/235858?referrer_id=666974 Congrats to the 5 MN kids invited! Not that this forum needs another Tier I argument thread BUT the question begs would MN have more invites if Tier I was offered here? Only two other states had more: 8 from Michigan 6 from NY I will...

IMO, I only see one really competitive between #4 Wayzata and Centennial. But, as we all saw last year, anything can happen! If Driscoll is on top of his game that Eastview/H-M match-up has upset potential written all over it. Last year every higher seed lost on Thursday so who knows what this year...

Lost to East 4-1 in the consolation semis of the Schwan Cup (insert "nobody gave a sh!t" card HERE *PLEASE NOTE SARCASIM*) & lost in OT to HM. Meh, those don't really count anyway. I mean, it was just a consolation bracket and since the other was OT it's essentially a tie. Those can b...

Wayzata doesn't deserve to be in front of Edina. They deserve to be in front of Hill and East...they beat them both...maybe Edina should be one and Wayzata 2......ok with that  Well, this COULD have some merit. Wayzata beat both East and H-M. Edina beat Wayzata. Edina hasn't played East or H-...

Personally I think to each their own. I disagree with the actions Pauly took but I also think it would've been reasonable for the kid to make a trip up there after the season was over. Either way I found this article interesting about the year over year increase of NHLers that played NCAA....... htt...

I didn't realize a slight suggestion not in favor of the Gophers would cause such a reaction by GB. I said "a few" kids MAY look at other schools a little closer because of the conference changes. You're right, it probably isn't "significantly more" games in the area but there wi...

It seems like SCSU is recruiting all over, and even going for some Gopher targets, which makes for an interesting dynamic with the new conference alignment. Still though, they're not in the business of keeping the Gophers honest for players like Hurley and Gersich. That duty goes to UND. The bolded...

This is such an easy criticism to make, and no way to actually "prove" any of it. In my experience, two things: 1) Youth refs are especially committed to calling games to the best of their ability, especially the more experienced ones that typically whistle the A and B games. True, younge...

Looks like Team MN needs Detroit to come back and beat Chicago in the 3rd period. Chi is up 2-1 after 2. If Detroit wins or ties MN would be in. C'mon Detroit! What could get interesting is if Chi wins there would be a 3 way tie for 3rd at 7 pts between MN, Boston, and Chi. Chi holds the tiebreaker ...

Agreed, take the old rants to a different thread. Nice job by Team MN so far! Was really impressed with the last 3 games they've played. Heartbreaker to see Detroit tie that game right at the end but most importantly their fate is still in their hands. Good luck tomorrow morning! Regardless of the o...

Nice to see Team MN at 2-0. The schedule isn't very kind to them though. They have another late game tonight and then have the first game in the morning tomorrow against Detroit. Good luck and keep it rolling Team MN!

icehornet seems to me to be the classic example. "parents need to be careful how hard and far they push" then asks why "parents shouldn't allow kids to shoot for the stars". It is a balancing act, but many parents are pushing their kid to reach the parent's "shooting for th...

I agree somewhat with most opinions. But what I m not getting is advise on what you should do if Johnny superstar is highly motivated and wants to play year round. Do you tell him no? because he might want quit later and hate me for it. Exactly this. Yes parents need to be careful how hard and far ...

TH, you seem to know every symptom in the book when it comes to these overindulging, self-serving parents. What I have yet to hear is a solution. What should parents be doing? If not driving their kid to the rink or going to games/tournaments as a family what other experiences should be created? If ...

The problem is many never consider or are aware of the end effect. What exactly is this "end effect" you seem to imply a large percentage of parents drive their kids to? I guess I just don't see the same issue as long as the kids are having fun. If the kid is being forced on the ice or fo...

Seems to be comparing apples to oranges though considering that all these MN Bantam teams are community based. Playing up in a lower level invite tournament would probably teach your kids more than pounding on open teams.

To clarify - write or wrong not sure - but the attack teams playing were machine teams but a year below. I.e. the attack team in 98 open would be the 99 machine team. That I take issue with. You host an open tournament that your invite teams play in? Doesn't matter if they're a year younger, the ot...
