I would add that acting bored after a goal is as bad as excessive celebration....often you see this in JV games - as if it doesn't matter much. Getting a goal is cause for huge celebration, no matter what level you play at. Just do it with your team, boys. Without them, you're nothing.

Don't know what the abbreviations mean ogie....guess I'm not as savvy as a poster with time for 290 comments. Wow. Yeah you and many others can write it off as kids being kids and in fact that's probably what it is. But sometimes I look at these priviledged kids nowadays and see what Chris Hedges ca...

All you PC jokers trying to wax eloquent about how Plante sets a bad example for the boys blah blah, or he is classless for going aftr the ref, blah blah. Get a clue. These boys aren't some frail bunch of girl scouts you have to worry about. Hockey emotions run high, hell there was a Ranger Ottawa g...

Hockey has always been a sport where celebrations were done with your teammates. Class. The individual "look-at-me" crap resurfaced a little when Ovechkin started acting supid. He quickly reigned it in when Don Cherry ripped him. It's just not like soccer and football and basketball guys. ...

 Hilarious! I've seen similar posts on girls hockey and passed on by, but no longer. Not that it'll matter of course but gonna say it anyway. Title 9 has done a lot for girls wanting to play male sports - its made them and their family members happy and that's about it. Anyone else interested s...

Yeah I guess that this thread has been supported by 4 or 5 people is telling. Givit a break guys, er gals. Flag this note if you want. Girls/womens hockey is the biggest joke that was ever allowed to happen. As I said before, it's an afront to the game's forefathers and it's too bad modern-day idiot...

You hear a lot about the importance of your HS coach.....how he's the main contact person when scouts come looking. Our HS coach is not good. Not much interested in encouraging/helping guys move on or up. We never got along vwery well.. Just the way it is.

Garbage! :) If our hockey forefathers saw all the ponytails skatin' around out there they'd be rollin' over in their graves. It's an afront to the game I tellya.

Girls hockey? It's an oxymoron. The two words should be considered mutually exclusive.

It seems there are some NA teams that are more successful than others at eventually getting their guys to D1. Better coaching? Better connections?

Really good idea. Do the same thing with baseball bats. Make it so all kids, from HS on down have to use wood. Revives a faded Minnesota industry, keeps more money in parents' pockets, and puts all kids on the same level sheet of ice.

I have a question for anyone that may know: When looking to tryout for an NAHL team, how do you find out which team has the most open roster spots for the coming season? Will the coach offer that info up or is it hush hush? It would seem to make sense that if it's going to cost me 200 bucks+ to tryo...

Ha! No, you have the wrong guy although that is funny. I don't know if our most famous enforcer even has a son but if he does I'm sure he's a tough one. No, I actually have been thinking about all these ex-pros and their boys going on to the big leagues and wondering if it's all about their talent o...

Father's Occupation?

Glanced over a couple USHL questionnaires my son had awhile back and found it somewhat interesting that one of the questions asked was what the old man did/does....as in, did he play hockey and where/what level? If you watch much NHL hockey, it's amazing how many family connections there are. Pierre...

Competition within the team. Good or bad?

I always wonder if more mature-minded HS teams do better overall than immature thinking teams. Many AA high school teams have 1 or more solid, top-end lines. There may be 2-4 players with serious firepower. Does competing amongst teammates as to who has the most goals/points on the team get in the w...

Saw my first NA3 game last week. This is good hockey. Quite fast, players are big and the play has a much more mature style than HS - and that goes for any A or AA program. With the exception of a few good 17 yr-olds, the majority of the players are 18+, and I would under no circumastances call them...

As the NAHL becomes a very good league, I am beginning to hear comparisons now to the USHL. Mainly that the NAHL is the "working man's" league. Lunch pail hockey if you will; while the USHL is likened to be more for the the top guns - top scoring players with better offensive skills. Would...

[MJ feels more run and gun like high school games with bigger more skilled kids playing]

Interesting...why would this be? So in your opinion the MJHL is a better league? I'm only asking because I have seen neither [/quote]

NA3HL

Have heard some about this league. Seems to be a way for NAHL owners to make a little more money - part of a larger business model perhaps. Haven't watched any games curious to see if it grows and improves similar to the way the NAHL has.

I believe some light research into head coach for Crookston HS (Bittner) will reveal that he sits on more than one MN Hockey positions of inluence. He goes to bat for his players, but as far as the rest of Great Plains, it's basically Section 8 with a sprinkling of ND players....some new ones who ne...

Team Great Plains

Coach Oliver of Team Great Plains really seems to be biased toward his Roseau players as well as players from Moorhead. You want to talk about no mans land? Try central MN - Draw a circle from Lil' Falls, to DL to Fergus to Alex. Nobody going to bat for some of the better players in this region of t...
