Re: 2024 AA tourney
Just seed the AA field from top to bottom at end of regular season and throw geography out the window already. Chanhassen and Edina are so much better than the other six teams in the tourney this year. Too many of the state’s top AA programs are all packed in 2-3 sections. Time for change. This is ...

Re: Class A SF #1 seed 7A Hermantown (19-8-2) vs #4 seed 4A Mahtomedi (18-11-0)
Mahtomedi jerseys are hideous with the number on front and "Zephyrs" on the back. Look like practice jerseys. Their play has been hideous as well. They hand the Hawks their 2nd goal and then right off of the timeout Hawks bury another one. 3-0 this one might get ugly Yep. Terrible. Not th...

Re: Playoff Games Wednesday 2/28/24
It was an odd game. Odd officiating calls. Weird things happened. I swear Gentry scored breaking into the zone when ot was still 2-0, and it seemed like no one on the Gentry sode even noticed, no hollering, I don't know how it couldn't have gone in. But I need to pull that up on the stream to revie...

Re: Section 4AA
Yep, Stillwater looked BAD. Very little life. Team is a shell of what it was halfway through the season. Section quarters upset isn't out of the question apparently. Disappointing as I thought they were a sleeper at the midway point.

Re: Coldest Rinks in MN
I'll second Stillwater's Lily Lake but my first thought was Ramsey County's Shoreview arena--SEC Scotty nailed it. Only been to Tartan's arena once and it was on one of the coldest days ever and that arena was so cold that luke warm water warmed us up. Most crisp skating I've ever heard.

Re: EYE-POPPER GAMES
That is correct, Stillwater lost to both Roseville and Mounds View this week. Was at both games. Stillwater didn't play poorly in either game except for the typical lapses in attention to detail for a high school team. Goaltending lapses in both games for SW while RV and especially MV's goalies play...

Are there archives of the state tournament games? I tried to find them on 45TV.com but didn't find them.

Anyone know what Wisc schools are doing? Mahtomedi has a game in Hudson this Sat. Hudson is supposed to be very good. Would love to catch it if fans can get in.

Re: Class A Rankings 1.17.21
"9. St. Paul Johnson (0-0-0) [LW 9] Idle Nothing to see here. In fact, the next game on the Governors' schedule isn't until the 26th, which makes me think there may be a COVID issue." St. Paul Schools weren't allowed to start practices until late last week so their first games in any sport...

I enjoyed watching it and was fascinated that Sager could convince his historically undisciplined squad to do it. It must have killed Wahlin to drop back when he excels in the forecheck, but it allowed him to create turnovers using a different skill and maybe rounded him out as a player. I have no p...

0-7 Moorhead vs. 0-17 WBL
Which streak would you rather own: Moorhead's 0-7 in championship games or WB's 0-17 in quarterfinal games? And which streak is more likely to be broken this week? I'd rather have Moorhead's streak because it means they've had great success in the quarters and semis--anything can happen in a champio...

Playoffs just often crown the dominant team on paper as they crown unlikelies, and the state hs hockey tournament is no different. In fact, Edina and HM are the only favs in the past decade that I would say the on paper favorite won. TV, more fans, deeper newspaper coverage, staying downtown, differ...

I love how WBL is leading in votes. One win over an overrated Private school and they think they can beat the likes of EP and Edina. I have them as the other 0-2 team. I can't help but notice that every year in the WBL/HM thread, White Bear seems to be leading in the poll, yet all the posters seem ...

It's too bad Coyne had a bad game in the biggest game of the season. This was only the second time I'd seen him but I had heard so much about him, that I certainly expected more, and I would guess that if Blaine played MG 10 times, Coyne would stand on his head in seven of them, as would Malvin, and...

Can someone describe the winning goal to me? I looked at a wide open Birkinbine away from the play, and the next thing I know, I catch the redlight coming on out of the cornor of my eye. Missed it! 27 for SW (solid, smart player) made a weak and ill advised pass from the corner toward the center of...

Not sure those three goals were flukey or on bad bounces. They looked like typical hard fought goals you see in high school hockey, not pretty but they got into the net. I wouldn't worry about Coyne, or MG, but it was interesting that all five starters I believe were on the ice for those three goals...

Really? I didn't think WB played as good a game as I expected them to, or as tight a game as I've seen them this season. Regardless, they deserved to win as Stillwater couldn't control the puck. Most winning teams can sustain possession with a few passes tied together and Stillwater didn't complete ...

MSHSL deserves kudos for making section alignments as fair and reasonable as possible. Never going to make everyone happy and I'm happy they don't bow down to the complainers. Minor readjustments every 4 years or so ensures that any drastic change in programs, new schools, combined or closed schools...
