Its time to put SOMEONE from BSM into this discussion. Their top line (Gleekel, Risteau, Moore) are all seniors as is defender Austin. None of these guys are NHL draft picks, but 12-0-1 with a senior-laden team has to merit at least some talk of a top-ten nominee. Ok, fine. Ken Pauly. Must be a sen...

Bville really hurtby lack of depth last night. BSM mostly rolled 4 lines. BV mostly just two lines after getting down 2-0 early. By late second, the horses had no legs and BSM won most races and battles. Top two BSM lines played little in third, which went running for last 15 mins. Bishell played gr...

We will have a good idea of whether the BSM Red Knights belong in the Top 10 pretty soon. They scrimmage East and Rapids this weekend, then play real games next weekend against Marshall and Rapids, after opening Tuesday against STMA. All are on the road, so it will be a tough week. If successful, BS...

Here is a way to look at this issue that might ease some anxiety. The Festival has 160 kids and 54 will be chosen to move on. -If the kid is easily in the top 30-40 kids, we will move on, so he should miss a game to take the ACT. - if the kid is in the bottom half of the 160, he has no chance to mov...

These two guys should transfer to a strong AA Metro program or their games will stagnate. They have mastered the Class A Hockey level, so it is time to move on. Remember the two brothers form Moose Lake a few years ago? Where are they now?? The point is that Class A is no longer a challenge for thes...

Here is an odd one. The BSM 09-10 had 9 D1 players, but only went 16-6 and lost in the section semis to Tonka. Five of these players were 9 th and 10th graders, which is probalby why the team was not great that year, but won the State two years later. 9th Labosky-CC Besse-Wis Moore-Holy Cross 10th H...

Here are a few answers for you: 1. 13 was drafted ahead of 24 because of his USHL production. Both played in the USHL. 13 had 93 points in 59 games (1.5 ppg). 24 had 11 points in 25 games (.5 ppg). The extra point you average every night will get you drafted higher. 2. From an NHL standpoint; 5'9&qu...

Lets look at the question fromt his angle: Does Minnesota HS Hockey prepare a player for college hockey? I pulled the MR Hockey and Brimsek nominees from 2011, 2012 and 2013 and looked them up on Hockey db. I asssume if any sample should be tested for college readiness, its this group. ( am counting...

I agree that the reason Kloos is undrafted is not just size (although that is part of it). The big reason he ws not drafted in 2012 is that the NHL does not trust numbers that come out of the MN high school schedule. (think Everson Guenztel, Besse first time, etc) So he did not get drafted the first ...

A few mergers that worked and some that did not: Edina East and Edina West merged. They used to hate each other but succeeded together. Lincoln and Jefferson merged in the 80's and created a powerhouse. Lakeville South and North merged this year (okay, not officially. But most of the players came ov...

This team was dominant for the lst month. Get used to it. Edina gets better as the eyars roll along. This dominant group of Edina seniors is the only class in a five-year stretch (from last year's grads to next year's frosh) who failed to win a State Bantam or PeeWee Championship as second years. Ne...

Congrats to Jake Horton Umass and Ben Newhouse Union. With these two new commits, the 2012 BSM team has eight D1 commits (Besse, Labosky, Moore, Horton, Newhouse, Glover, Horn, Collins). And even with this many, they would not have won the tourney without great play by Quale in the net. I looked uip...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Naas, Jalen Long, and Chase Jungels are originally from Delano or the surrounding area! Traitors! Mariucci on section night used to be a mess. It was a total hassle but worth it. Then they took it to Target Center one year and it has not been the same since. But it is not far off. I think one big reason for the chaneg is that that 2AA has been dominated by Edina. Burnsville has always had a grea...

EX: tough Monday morning? Lighting up a guy on his third post ever is not very cool. Most High School coaches will play the best players regardless of grade. Some will favor younger players over seniors who are not expected to help out much; some favor the older kids. MNHockeyFan nailed it. Your kid...
