Not from D2, and am just catching up on this conversation in some free time. It interests me because I serve on other non-profit Boards, and understand the fiduciary duty I have to those organizations. Suffice it to say, the volunteers in charge in this situation ALL have a duty to ensure this type ...

Maybe the Cadets would feel comfortable playing AA Girls next year? Don't want them to take too much risk.

Guilty.....

I can tell you that I am one of those people who is "guilty" of watering down the AAA scene. We put a practice team together this spring and fall to help kids in our association develop. The goal is to have 20 hours of practice for each tournament in which we play. Our team ranges from kid...

Congratulations on a great season!

I have been a JG parent for two years now. I have had the pleasure of watching games at both the A and B level. The old days of Junior Gold hockey as a "goon" league are gone, and the level of play now is nothing less than outstanding! As another season ends I just wanted to say congratula...
Keep in mind th...

JBlaze- MASH and Showcase are similar in some respects. Spring/Fall hockey is always a crap-shoot when it comes to level of play, but Duane tries his best to work with you to match skill level as best he can. Unfortunately that relies on the feedback from coaches themselves. Sometimes a coach simply...
I don't know about "all night", but if you watched the final 4 minutes of period 2 it was a tough stretch for the Wayzata center. Three to four times the Trojan second or third line got a freeze in the...
I think he meant Stillwater's "good" goalie was not in net when they played them.

Thanks for the responses so far. A few opinions of my own to add…..and yes, they are simply my personal opinions. I think the HEP rules are good, and though I only have two years of Jr. Gold experience (well, my son has 2 years experience, I have only coached/watched), it seems clear they have had a...

HEP Impact

Looking for some dialogue on HEP points. To be honest, this year’s standings were minimally impacted. Most seeds can be traced to win totals. Obviously Minnetonka had as many wins as Wayzata, but the “Lady Bing” Trojans were considerably better with the “fair play”, so Mtka would have had to signifi...

YouthHockeyDad - you said your kid has sustained multiple concussions. Just out of curiosity, what was the recovery process and did they get progressively more severe or did he seem more susceptible to them once he had his first? @jBlaze3000: The recovery process, as prescribed by his doctor, was t...

The following is nothing more than personal opinion from a non-expert. But I have watched my son get more then once concussion in his youth hockey career, and the same questions come up every time. Maybe the answer lies in the precise fact that coaches cannot, and should not, be expected to play ama...

Why wait until mini-mites? I have developed an in-utero hockey training program for pregnant women. Just buy my special belly headphones and play this on a loop while your expecting...

Duluth Tourney schedule

I have seen the same schedule. They don't seem to make any sense from a "pool" play standpoint as many of the teams would be jumping pools for games. Must be another format for the tournament? Also looks like there might be 15 teams, but just adding a team doesn't appear to fix the random ...
