It pains me to say this, but all teams south of Lakeville should be Class A. Rochester Lourdes (private school) is the only team who can be competitive with the better Metro teams. The Lakeville teams are considered average by Metro standards and they hardly broke a sweat against our Big Nine teams....

As a Rochester guy I will be rooting for upsets, but Im also a realist. Lakeville South is 5 goals (minimum) better than all the Rochester schools. Lakeville North could get upset by a hot goalie and some puckluck. Here are my predictions: Playin game Dodge County 5 over Winona 2 First Round Lakevil...

Lakeville North can play with Lakeville South, but South is the favorite. The Rochester schools have zero chance against South. I would pick the South JV over all the Big Nine schools.

For the record I am a Rochester parent. I simply predicted Owatonna would be seeded lower after they lost one of their better players.

Lakeville South vs Century

Lakeville South beat Century 12-3. The Lakeville South JV team probably would win the Big Nine this year.

Big Nine News

Congratulations Lorne, It was a good game with both teams having chances to win. On a side note, I talked to one of the Mayo parents and they told me Trevor Thompson of Owatonna broke his arm last week. That changes my prediction on the 1AA Seedings 1 Lakeville South 2 Lakeville North 3 Century 4 Fa...

Re: 1AA

I think Century will get the #3 seed if they win the Big 9. Mayo beat Owatonna, Owatonna beat Farmington, John Marshall beat Mayo. The 4-9 seeds are a mystery?

Lakeville South and Lakeville North play in Jan and Feb. The winner of those games will be the #1 seed in 1AA. Century will be the #3 seed. The 4th seed is wide open. John Marshall, Owatonna, Farmington, Mayo you might as well put in a hat.

Owatonna at Century

Century beat Owatonna 4-0. Game was actually pretty close. Owatonna had two goals waved off in a scoreless first period. Raehsler and Jacobs played well. Sellnow was solid. This game was won by the Century coaches. 3 of the 4 Century goals were scored by their top line against the 3rd and 4th lines ...

Points are usually a result of opportunity. Player A will always have more points than Player B if Player A is on all the powerplays or put on a line with the most skilled players. Here in Rochester, I can recall plenty of mediocre players looking good on the stat sheet because of where they were pl...

Thanks itech22, I thought Mayo, Lourdes, JM, and Century had a some scrimmages scheduled against each other last November, but I could have been mistaken.

I only saw Owatonna a couple of times last year and their defenseman were terrible. Without Wagoner they will definitely be a sub 500 team. Sounds like Faribault and Albert Lea will be the teams to beat this season.

Big Nine

Based on what I saw last year, here are the returning players who stood out to me last year. I have no idea if these players left for juniors or not?

Century ... Kautz, Raechshler
Faribault ... Parker
Albert Lea ... Carlson, Stolt
Mayo ... Dingle
Owatonna ... Thompson, Ebling
West ... Weber
