Re: Games Saturday 1-23-2021

I missed the video for the last 5 minutes, and the audio for the last 2 minutes. I should get a refund of about 75 cents, plus tax.

But it was a very even game.

Re: Games Saturday 1-23-2021

Last Saturday saw the rare match-up of two defending champions opening the season against each other. This Saturday we see the rare match-up of a pair of four time champions, both with titles in both the single class & two class eras. In today's Pioneers - Thunderhawks contest, someones Oh as got to...

Re: Streaming For Dummies

Would Live Barn be just a single camera then?

And why on earth would anyone bother to set up a camera at Harding arena???

Looks like you have to pay & subscribe to Live Barn without knowing what specific games they cover. Could be buying a pig in a poke.

Re: Streaming For Dummies

So is it the case that with PrepspotlightTV that I would pay $59, but they don't schedule too far out?

Or can I buy individual games, too, rather than buying the entire package?

Can we get some perspective on the Edina - SLP game? When was the last time SLP beat or tied Edina? I recall SLP had a Mr hockey about 10 years back, how did those squads fare against Edina?

Shots on goal: The most meaningless (least meaningful?) statistic in all of sports, with the possible exception of time of possession in football.

Re: Streaming For Dummies

Ok that's some good dope & is very helpful.

Is there a good source I can check each week that will show which games will be available & where I can find them? Or does this involve a bit of detective work on my part?

Streaming For Dummies

For a few different reasons, I will likely be catching some games via streaming on the interwebs. (Now, I feel like I should be in the Progressive commercials; on not becoming your parents. go ahead take a shot at me, I'm fair game.) But I suspect I'm not the only one. If I'm interested in a particu...

I am sure MnHockey.tv Pete Waggoner will soon be publishing a livestream package for all high school games at the 18 rinks all around the state where they have cameras mounted. Here is a list . You can see their package for all youth games was $60, high school package to follow https://www.mnhockey...

Re: Early Christmas Present: Boys State Hockey Tournament (Meeting Dec 3rd)

Models, schmodels. Men make plans & God laughs. As I wrote here on another post, I really get a kick out of these various sports organizations that make plans, with no apparent caveat that, "Yeah, we've got this new schedule, but realize things could change quickly." I fully expect the saloons to st...

Re: MSHSL moves football to spring

What amuses me is that all of these leagues, pro & college, all a long they've been like, "Yeah, we're going full steam ahead." Even after spring training was cancelled, one Twins exec less than two weeks before the opener sounded 100% certain the season would start on time. There's never any holdin...

Somehow Hill's home/away mix got way out of balance. I wonder if the GR change is an effort to address that.

If memory serves, the first tournament game ever broadcast was the 1969 final. I'd like to see that, mostly because I'd like to see the production values.

Re: Turning Points

Here are my thoughts on seeding: Einstein said, "Not everything that can be counted counts; not everything that counts can be counted." There is a desire on the part of some to have one gold standard metric, a magic formula that "get's it right" every time, without any bias. That doesn't exist, & ne...

I'm surprised, I have absolutely no recollection of Hill drawing DE in the quarterfinals. I'm sure it's because of the epic semifinal that followed. One thing I recall is something the Tonka coach said. He said that they didn't let the kids sleep too late on Saturday morning, because they "didn't wa...

Seems like a lot of guys would love to see the small school tournament become even more mediocre.
Since when does parity=mediocrity?
When parity is the result of the best teams being removed from the competition.

2019-20 Pioneers went 3-5-2 over a month into mid-January and then played better than any other team the rest of the way en route to the state title. Its not that so much as we'd rather see the top teams be in Class AA
That's a distinction without a difference.
