Re: Tournaments in other states
Wisconsin has gotten worlds better. The state champion used to get beat by mid tier A Minnesota teams. This year’s team beat Gentry by 3 goals and beat Michigan state champions outshooting them 2/1 in the process. In 5 short years they have closed a tremendous gap on Minnesota. (The state tournamen...

Re: 23 state tournament winners
Here’s an option. Transfers are 100% welcome, with 1 huge holdback. No postseason play your first transfer year. That way you’re allowing a kid to practice and play a full season with limited penalty. They only miss a few games. Most important games, yes, but it’s a reasonable compromise.

Re: Games Thursday 3-9-23
Thoreson looks like the most NHL of the field. I was astonished by how well he played. I saw a few of their games last year and I thought he was the best player. This was the first game I’ve seen of theirs this year and he is so strong on his skates. So incredible at maintaining the puck. Fantastic...

Re: 2012 AA High School Hockey Tournament Memories
Lee is correct (of course) 2007 was first seedings 1-4 seeded. But back to the thread. Grant Besse, Grant Besse, Grant Besse. What a show! I think in 2062 people will still think about that performance.

Re: 2012 AA High School Hockey Tournament Memories
If I recall correctly that was the first “ranking” year. Everyone was so upset calling it unfair to rank teams. Then all the “favorites” lost. It was a good reminder that just because EVERYONE doesn’t necessarily like something that its possible that change can be OK.

Re: Official State seedings
Maple Grove at 4 is ridiculous. I guess this is one of those years that the seedings don't matter as much. All the teams are very good and the top teams are all pretty interchangeable. That said, Maple Grove is SCARY. Odd scheduling this year plays into it obviously. We'll see in a few days how sca...

Re: Fab Five
We got a Wisconsinite! Nice. I came here about 20 years ago from Wisconsin, when I was about 20. I always was a little jealous of the Minnesota hockey passion. It’s amazing the stuff you don’t realize about Minnesota until you’ve been here a while. Most Wisconsin hockey fans don’t understand the sta...

Re: Official Seeds Are Out!
There is a ton of pressure on the top seeds that can make such a huge difference in the tournament. Andover is rolling, but they haven’t seen a gauntlet like this and come through it before. Blake is the team that could be most relaxed, but first time is always going to be overwhelming. EP has felt ...

Re: Seeding for State
Interesting the last 2 computer rankings had:
1. Andover
2. EP
3. Blake
4. HM
5. LS/Moorhead (Feb 20/Feb25)
So, let’s say per computer rankings the top 6 teams all made it to State! What a year!

Re: Seeding for State
Based on the last few years, the seeding doesn’t follow who beat who. It’s usually most dangerous team ranked highest. Andover will be 1, EP 2, Blake 3. Those spots are locked.

Another week and no less than SIX top 10 lose! Crazy season. Nobody is “separating themselves”. I’m hoping this continues on to sectionals. Would be great to see some fresh faces at state.

Re: AA Rankings for 12/29/19
Don’t like WB as #1, but it’s just rankings so it doesn’t really mean anything. One could easily imagine if they played a gauntlet schedule this week they would have likely dropped one of 3 games (that’s just how it goes when teams are this even). I like Andover at #1 as they have looked the best ag...

OMG...I didn’t see that coming. Tonka back to life. Um its just one game boys and the score was pretty close, lets let this play out a little longer before we say the top of Karls rankings are mess Losing to a team outside of the top 20 is pretty significant I would say. I would put EP, WBL, and Hi...

Chaska EP game was fantastic! EP wins in OT 5-4. Teams looked so even all game. What a battle! If Chaska plays like that more they will be very dangerous at the end of the year.

Interested in this freshman Jayson Shaugabay. Is he bound for greatness? Was he noticeable in the game? He’s got some pretty healthy stats for a freshman.

Re: AA title: Edina vs EP
I would call it a “classic” I was on the edge of my seat from the puck drop. You might forget this game could have been 2-1 60 seconds in!!! EP did dominate but that didn’t take anything away from the game. The fact the underdog was so dominant added to the intensity. TONS of scoring chances and act...

Last year STA was absolutely awful in their opening game. I think they remember that, but can’t change anything. 5-1 hounds.

Re: AA state tourney seeding
If you really look into it. Moorhead is the team that got “screwed” the most. They were certainly deserving of a seed. Played great down the stretch and were very competitive with the toughest teams in the state. Had some bad loses to odd teams, but you could certainly say the same with seeded EP an...

2. Blaine vs. WBL 3. Eden Prairie vs. Lakeville South 1. Edina vs. Moorhead 4. St. Thomas vs. 5 Duluth East Good day to be an Eagle, apparently. :? Well that makes for a more exciting tournament! I can easily see all games going either way. Obviously Edina and EP look to have the best chance at win...

Re: AA state tourney seeding
In 2019 DE has: 1. Beat a great Andover team in overtime. 2. Comfortably run through the section up to the final (just like the rest of the field) 3. Gone 6-1 vs “mid level” competition. 4. And finally they had gone 2-3-1 against state caliber competition. TWO wins in 6 games... you all are putting ...
